Abstract: An augmented reality (AR) device is provided. The AR device includes a display configured to output light of a first polarization; a polarization-conversion reflector provided opposite to an output side of the display, the polarization-conversion reflector converting the light of the first polarization into light of a second polarization that is orthogonal to the first polarization and reflect the light of the second polarization; a waveguide having a flat plate shape, a normal line of a flat surface of the flat plate shape being inclined with respect to an optical axis of the light of the first polarization output from the display, a side of the waveguide being provided between the display and the polarization-conversion reflector; an input-coupler inputting the light of the second polarization into the waveguide; and an output-coupler outputting light propagating in the waveguide.

Abstract: A method, performed by an augmented reality (AR) device including a vision correction lens, of detecting a gaze of a user is provided. The method includes obtaining lens characteristic information about the vision correction lens arranged to overlap a light guide plate in a gaze direction of the user, emitting light for gaze tracking toward a light reflector through a light emitter, wherein the emitted light is reflected by the light reflector and then directed to an eye of the user, receiving a light reflected by the eye of the user through a light receiver, obtaining an eye image of the user based on the light received, adjusting the eye image of the user based on the lens characteristic information about the vision correction lens, and obtaining gaze information based on the adjusted eye image.

Abstract: Provided is an electronic device including an optical engine including a projection lens configured to project light of a virtual image, a waveguide including an input grating on which the light of the virtual image is incident, an actuator configured to adjust a position of the projection lens relative to an optical axis of the projection lens, a light sensor configured to detect light passing through the input grating, a memory configured to store one or more instructions, and a processor configured to execute the one or more instructions to obtain a degree of parallelism of the light detected by the light sensor, obtain, based on the degree of parallelism of the light, a position adjustment value of the projection lens to detect light, and control the actuator to adjust a distance between the projection lens and the waveguide based on the position adjustment value.
