Abstract: A head-mounted display apparatus and method of the control are provided. The apparatus includes a display unit, a signal processing unit processing an image signal received from an outside to display a first image on the display unit, a shutter glass performing a shutter operation to allow selective transmission of external light, a communication unit communicating with an external display apparatus, and a controller controlling the head-mounted display apparatus to operate in a selective one of a first mode, in which the head-mounted display apparatus operates corresponding to a second image displayed on the external display apparatus, and a second mode, in which the head-mounted display apparatus displays the image signal processed by the signal processing unit on the display unit as the first image, based on a preset event.
