    Abstract: An electronic device is provided, which includes a user interface, at least one communication module, a microphone, at least one speaker, at least one processor operatively connected with the user interface, the at least one communication module, the microphone, and the at least one speaker, and at least one memory operatively connected with the at least one processor, wherein the at least one memory stores instructions, which when executed, instruct the at least one processor to while the electronic device is wiredly or wirelessly connected with an access point (AP) connected with at least one external electronic device, after receiving, through the microphone, part of a wake-up utterance to invoke a voice-based intelligent assistant service, broadcast identification information about the electronic device and receive identification information broadcast from the external electronic device, after receiving the whole wake-up utterance through the microphone, individually transmit first information related to the wake-up utterance received through the microphone to the at least one external electronic device and individually receive, from the external electronic device, second information related to the wake-up utterance received by the at least one external electronic device, and determine whether to transmit voice information received after the wake-up utterance to an external server based on at least part of the first information and the second information. Other various embodiments are possible as well.

    Abstract: An electronic device and a speech recognition method that is capable of adjusting an end-of-utterance detection period dynamically are disclosed. The electronic device includes a microphone, a display, an input device formed as a part of the display or connected to the electronic device as a separate device, a processor electrically connected to the microphone, the display, and the input device, and a memory electrically connected to the processor. The memory stores instructions, executable by the processor, for receiving an utterance input by a user through the microphone, converting the utterance to text comprised of a series of words or phrases with spaces, displaying the text on the display, the text comprising at least one space formed at an incorrect position, and receiving a user input for updating a predetermined time period through the input device.

    Abstract: An electronic device is provided, which includes a housing; a microphone located on or within a predetermined distance of a first portion of the housing; a speaker located on or within a predetermined distance of a second portion of the housing; a communication circuit; a processor electrically connected to the microphone, the speaker, and the communication circuit; and a memory electrically connected to the processor configured to store a message to be provided as a voice through the speaker, wherein the memory stores instructions, wherein the processor is configured to execute the instructions to perform operations comprising: determining time information corresponding to a first part of the message if providing of the message is necessary, outputting the message through the speaker, receiving an input sound through the microphone while at least a part of the message is output, and processing the input sound using the time information to detect at least one word or sentence from the input sound, and the processing the input sound includes processing the input sound by ignoring at least a part of the input sound using the time information.
