摘要： A retaining tube having a substantially equilateral hexagonal shape is accommodated in an accommodation recess formed in a bottom frame of a seat rest. An inflator serving as a gas generation source is accommodated in the retaining tube. The retaining tube is contained in an air bag made of cloth. The inflator is cylindrical and fastened by screws to the bottom wall of the accommodation recess. A support surface, which is one of the six planes configuring the peripheral surface of the retaining tube, extends parallel to the upper surface of the support wall. The support surface is arranged at a position slightly lower than the upper surface. The support surface faces the lower surface of the seat cushion.

摘要： A side airbag has a lower chamber corresponding to the chest of the occupant and an upper chamber corresponding to the head of the occupant. A strap is provided at the boundary between the lower and upper chambers. The attachment position of a door-side attachment portion of the strap is higher than the attachment position of a seat-side attachment portion of the strap and lower than the upper end of a door trim or at the same height as the upper end of the door trim. Thus, the peripheral length from the upper end of a door-side base cloth of the side airbag to the door-side attachment portion of the strap is shorter than the peripheral length from the upper end of a seat-side base cloth of the side airbag to the seat-side attachment portion of the strap. As such, upon deployment of the side airbag, the upper chamber can be raised up toward a door window glass.

A gas supply opening 42, to which gas ejected from an inflator 22 is supplied, is disposed at a first inflation portion 38 side. The gas supply opening 42, and the pair of protection portions 46 provided at left and right end portions of knee airbag 36, are provided on substantially the same line in a vehicle lateral direction, and the first inflation portion 36 communicates the two as a gas flow path. Therefore, in a frontal collision, even if a space 48 between the instrument panel 12 and the knees of the vehicle occupant is small, the pair of protection portions 46 can be quickly inflated and deployed to the small space 48.

The upper rail and the seat cushion frame are connected with a bracket at a position facing the sensor attaching plate. When the passenger sits on the seat, the seat cushion frame moves down and a bent portion of the bracket is pressed and deformed downwards. At this time, the center in the vertical direction of the sensor attaching plate is bent outward in the lateral direction of the seat. The sensor serves to detect the generated deformation.
