Abstract: A dual-bearing reel includes a spool, a spool shaft, a spool supporting portion, a reel body, and a rotating member. The rotating member is disposed to be capable of rotating between a first position in which the spool supporting portion can be removed from the reel body and a second position in which the spool supporting portion cannot be removed from the reel body. In the first position the radially outside portion of the rotating member is disposed spaced apart from the reel body in at least one of a radial direction and an axial direction. In the second position the radially outside portion is disposed on the inside of the outer surface of the body portion in the radial direction, when viewing the rotating member from the outside in the axial direction.

Abstract: A spool of a dual-bearing reel includes a bobbin trunk, first and second flange portions and cylindrical portions. The first flange portion extends outwardly from the first end of the bobbin trunk and the second flange portion extends outwardly from the second end of the bobbin trunk. The first and second flanges do not have through-holes penetrating therethrough in an axial direction. The cylindrical portions extend outwardly from distal end portions of the flange portions. The first and second flange portions have a first tapered portion and a second tapered portion, respectively, each of the first and tapered portions becoming thinner in a radially outward direction. An average width between the first and tapered portions is less than or equal to 60% of an outer diameter of the cylindrical portion.

Abstract: A dual-bearing reel includes a reel body, a spool shaft, an operating member, and a cam mechanism. The reel body includes a frame, a cover member disposed on one side of the frame, and a shaft support part fixed inside the cover member and supported by the frame. One end of the spool shaft is supported by the shaft support part. The operating member is integrally movable with the shaft support part in the axial direction and rotatably mounted on the shaft support part to rotate between a first position where the shaft support part is attached to the frame and a second position where the shaft support part is detached from the frame. The cam mechanism moves the shaft support part in the axial direction in accordance with the rotation of the operating member such that the shaft support part is attached to and detached from the frame.

Abstract: A dual-bearing reel includes a handle, a spool, a spool shaft, a clutch mechanism, a pinion gear, and an elastic member. The spool shaft is connected to the spool to be integrally rotatable and has a first abutting portion. The pinion gear has a second abutting portion to abut the first abutting portion in the axial direction in the inner circumferential portion thereof, and can move in the axial direction between a coupled position, in which the pinion gear is connected to the spool shaft so as to be integrally rotatable, and a decoupled position, in which the connection is disconnected. When the pinion gear is in the coupled position, the elastic member contacts the distal end of the pinion gear and biases the first abutting portion and the second abutting portion in directions away from each other.
