摘要： There is provided a plasma display apparatus and a driving method thereof. The plasma display apparatus comprises an APL controller controlling an average picture level (APL) to adjust the number of setup waveforms depending on frame data inputted from the outside; a waveform generator generating a setup waveform depending on an average picture level; and a plasma display panel to which the setup waveform is applied, wherein the number of the setup waveform set in a reference section in which the average picture level increases is different from the number of the setup waveform set in the same section in which the average picture level decreases.

摘要： The present invention relates to a plasma display panel, and more particularly, to a plasma display apparatus and driving method thereof, in which they can enhance the capability of representing low gray levels. A plasma display apparatus according to the present invention comprises a PDP comprising a plurality of scan electrodes and a sustain electrodes formed parallel with each other on an upper substrate, and a plurality of address electrodes intersecting the scan electrodes and the sustain electrode on the lower substrate, wherein a discharge cell formed at the intersection of the electrodes is driven with it being time-divided into a plurality of subfields, and a controller that applies a reset pulse for initializing the discharge cell and a scan pulse for selecting the discharge cell to the scan electrodes, whereas a sustain pulse for generating a sustain discharge is omitted, in an nth subfield having the lowest brightness value, and applies a low gray level reset pulse to the scan electrodes in a (n+1 )th subfield.

摘要： A plasma display apparatus and a method of driving the same are disclosed. The plasma display apparatus driven in a frame comprised of a plurality of subfields includes a plasma display panel including a scan electrode and a sustain electrode, and a driver. The driver supplies a first signal, that rises from a first voltage to a second voltage, is maintained at the second voltage during a predetermined period of time, and falls from the second voltage to a third voltage smaller than the first voltage with a slope, to the scan electrode. The predetermined period of time is set at different values in at least two subfields.
