Abstract: A liquid crystal display device includes: first and second substrates; a liquid crystal layer interposed between the first and second substrates; a switching element provided on the first substrate; a first pixel electrode provided on the first substrate and electrically connected to a drain electrode of the switching element; an insulating film provided on the first pixel electrode; and a common electrode provided on the insulating film and including a first slit. The first pixel electrode extends in a first direction. The first slit extends in the first direction and is located above the first pixel electrode. In a planar view, both edges of the first pixel electrode in a second direction intersecting the first direction are located inside the first slit.

Abstract: A liquid crystal display device includes: a liquid crystal layer sandwiched between a first substrate and a second substrate; a first light shielding layer that is provided on the first substrate; a first insulating layer provided on the first light shielding layer; a gate electrode that is provided on the first insulating layer; a second insulating layer provided on the gate electrode; a semiconductor layer that is provided on the second insulating layer, and is provided for each pixel; a source electrode and a drain electrode that partially overlap with the semiconductor layer; a pixel electrode that is provided on the second insulating layer; a third insulating layer provided on the semiconductor layer and the pixel electrode; and a common electrode that is provided on the third insulating layer, and includes a slit.
