Abstract: A battery module for constructing a drive battery for a motor vehicle includes a carrier and a plurality of battery cells that are connected to the carrier by means of a casting compound, wherein a venting duct is provided in the casting compound so as to discharge gases from a damaged battery cell. A production method for a battery module of this type is also provided.
