Abstract:
There is provided a method for restricting access to data stored on a memory card, whereby the restriction of access relates to what is able to be carried out to the data stored on the memory card during wireless communications with the memory card. Furthermore, there is also provided a memory card which is able to restrict access to data stored on it during wireless communications with it.
Abstract:
A memory card configured to be used in a digital camera having an inbuilt processor incapable of independently exporting digital data externally of the digital camera or independently importing digital data from externally of the digital camera, the memory card comprising: a wireless transceiver module being operably connected to at least one of: a central processor, and a storage module; and being configured to receive the digital data transmitted to the digital camera and to export the digital data from the storage module; the central processor being configured to control at least one of: the reception of the digital data by the digital camera, and the transmission of the digital data from the digital camera when the digital data is captured by the digital camera; the storage module being operably connected to the central processor and being configured to store at least one of the digital data captured by the digital camera, and the digital data received by the digital camera; wherein at least one control button of the digital camera is able to be used to control the central processor when the memory card is physically and operably engaged in and with the digital camera and the digital camera is in a predefined mode; and the memory card is configured to at least one of: export the digital data to a wireless network location through the wireless transceiver module in response to an instruction received by the central processor from the inbuilt processor of the digital camera, and receive the digital data from a remote image collection apparatus through the wireless transceiver module in response to an instruction received by the central processor from the inbuilt processor of the digital camera.
Abstract:
A memory card (103) for use in an electronic apparatus (101) is proposed. In order to control an electronic apparatus (101) with an inbuilt processor (301) incapable of exporting digital data externally of the electronic apparatus (101), a user local at the electronic apparatus (101) is required to operate the electronic apparatus (101). This is not always convenient. The proposed memory card (103) has a wireless module (207) for receiving an instruction wirelessly from a remote wireless-enabled apparatus (105), and also a central processor (201) for controlling the inbuilt processor (301) of the electronic apparatus (101) in accordance with the received instruction.

Abstract:
A memory card is described, the memory card having a wireless transceiver module, a central processor, and a storage module. The memory card when physically and operably engaged in and with a digital camera, is configured to export digital data captured by the digital camera to a remote camera through the wireless transceiver module in response to an instruction received by the central processor from an inbuilt processor of the digital camera, and receive digital data from the remote camera through the wireless transceiver module in response to an instruction received by the central processor from the inbuilt processor.
Abstract:
A method of authentication for a memory card is disclosed. The method comprises using a wireless-enabled mobile telecommunication-enabled apparatus to wirelessly and directly detect and connect to the memory card, the memory card being wireless-enabled. A keypad of the wireless-enabled mobile telecommunication-enabled apparatus is used to enter and wirelessly send directly to the memory card at least one of a user name and an authentication code. A processor in the memory card compares the user name and/or authentication code with a stored user name and/or authentication code in the memory card. Upon the processor validating the user name and/or authentication code, the memory card is activated for use.
