Abstract: Height-adjustable work table, preferably kitchen table comprising at least one cabinet on top of which a table top is located. The cabinet(s) is located on a number of electrically driven height-adjustable platforms. In that the platforms are mutually retained by at least one connection rail these appear as stable both during the assembly of the work table and of the assembled table. Between a surface, typically a floor on which the platform is located, and an underside of the cabinet a toe kick is placed. This toe kick is telescopic in height such that the toe kick regardless of the adjusted height of the kitchen table shuts off access under the cabinet. The connection rail may constitute an element of the telescopic toe kick.

Abstract: A height adjustment system for a desk, workstation or the like is provided comprising a plurality of height adjustable legs each having a first part in the form of a hollow column and a second part movable relative to the first part in a vertical direction. The second part of each leg includes a gearbox housing containing a crown gear provided on a vertically extending rotatable shaft and at least one pinion gear engageable with said crown gear. The vertical shaft includes a screw-threaded portion engaged by nuts on a base plate of the column. A winding mechanism is provided for rotating a horizontally extending shaft on which the pinion gear is provided. Rotation of the horizontal shaft causes the vertical shaft to rotate thereby moving the second part relative to the column so adjust the height of a top member secured on the gearbox housing. The gearbox housing includes ball bearing race assemblies for the crown and pinion gears which enable the height or two or more legs to be adjusted simultaneously by a single winding mechanism. The leg also includes a self-adjusting linear bearing between telescopically movable parts of the leg.

Abstract: An adjustable leg for supporting a table top whereby the height can be raised or lowered comprises a metal tube defining the leg within which is mounted a screw threaded rod. A square opening in one side of the wall of the tube exposes the teeth of a gear member which can be rotated and carries a screw thread for cooperation with the rod to raise and lower the table top. Collars on either side of the gear member provide bearing surfaces for axial movement of the rod and for rotational movement of the gear member. The gear member can have two separate axially spaced sets of teeth, one for cooperation with an electric motor drive gear and the other for cooperation with a manually operable ratchet device. The ratchet device and electric motor are alternatives and each of which can be mounted in a housing for clamping around the tubular leg.
