    摘要: A chuck jaw stopping mechanism is disclosed for forming a soft jaw for a lathe. An example of the chuck jaw stopping mechanism includes a stopping device. The example chuck jaw stopping mechanism also includes a securement device configured to connect the stopping device on a master jaw of a chuck of the lathe. The example chuck jaw stopping mechanism also includes a lower surface of the stopping device that moves against a portion of an outer circumference of the chuck in a closed position. The lower surface also moves away from the portion of the outer circumference of the chuck in an open position to form a gap between the lower surface of the stopping device and the portion of the outside circumference of the chuck.

    摘要: Reducer sleeves are described herein. Reducer sleeves described herein comprise a reducer sleeve body having an axial forward end and an axial rearward end. The reducer sleeve body defines a longitudinal axis. Reducer sleeves further comprise a flange disposed at the axial forward end of the reducer sleeve body. The flange defines a first nozzle disposed at a first radial distance from the longitudinal axis and a second nozzle disposed at a second distance from the longitudinal axis. The reducer sleeve body defines a first trough extending from the axial rearward end to the axial forward end. The first trough is in communication with the first nozzle and the second nozzle, whereby coolant is able to enter the first trough and flow along the first trough and into the first nozzle and the second nozzle such that the coolant is ejected by the first nozzle and the second nozzle.

The quick-change top tooling system includes a chuck body, at least one jaw assembly, and at least one workstop assembly. The workstop assembly comprises a workstop base mounted to the surface of the chuck body and a workstop releasably coupled to the workstop base. The at least one jaw and workstop may engage and clamp a workpiece to be chucked to maintain the concentricity and parallelism of the workpiece.

    摘要: To compensate for tolerances and diameter differences during the chucking of a tool shank (15) in a tool holder (1) of the shrink-fit chuck type, a diameter-compensating bush (17) is provided. The diameter-compensating bush (17) has an outer sleeve (19) having a tapered inner circumferential surface (25) and an inner sleeve (21) arranged coaxially therein and having a tapered outer circumferential surface (27). Once the diameter-compensating bush (17) has been put onto the tool shank (15) and the inner sleeve (21) has been drawn into the outer sleeve (19), for example by means of a ring nut (35), for the diameter compensation, the outer sleeve (19) is thermally shrunk in place in the locating section (9) of the tool holder (1). In this way, rotary tools whose tool shank (15) does not have a diameter corresponding to the diameter or the tolerance requirements of the tool holder (1) can be chucked in a tool holder (1), for example, of the shrink-fit chuck type.

    摘要: A reference stop for use in a lathe having a movable chuck and a draw tube adjacent to the chuck. A movable backstop is provided for rectilinear movement within a sleeve. The sleeve is inserted through the chuck of the lathe and extends into the draw tube. A threaded rod is attached to the backstop and extends outwardly from the sleeve, into the draw tube, and in a direction away from the chuck. The threaded rod is turned by a wrench and driver combination, and turning of the threaded rod causes corresponding rectilinear movement of the backstop in the sleeve, thereby allowing for a workpiece reference stop which is adjustable with respect to the chuck.

    摘要: The invention describes apparatus for chucking work in lathes. A pie-shaped, segmented, planar backing plate is attached to a lathe in such a manner as to permit radial movement without affecting the planar orientation of each of the segments. A plurality of segments constituting a ring are attached to the backing plate. This ring is machined to accept the work piece in either an inside diameter or outside diameter relationship. After the work piece is mounted onto the segmented ring, the segments of the backing plate are moved radially inwardly or outwardly, depending on the method of attaching the work piece, to snugly hold the work piece during the machining operation of the work piece. The size of the backing plate is constricted only by the peripheral equipment about the lathe and is not related to the size of the lathe chuck jaws themselves. Similarly, the size of the segmented ring employed with the backing plate is determined by the inside or outside diameter of the portion of the work piece used in securing the work piece to the segmented ring.
