The insert holder includes an insert receiving slot having a longitudinally extending upper receiving slot surface with longitudinally separated single pairs of ridge type V-shaped lateral stopping and upper clamping surfaces, the planar surface components of which form different internal angles. The cutting insert includes an upper surface with a single pair of groove type V-shaped upper abutment surfaces longitudinally separated from two pairs of groove type V-shaped lateral abutment surfaces. Clamping contact occurs between the pairs of upper abutment and upper clamping surfaces, and lateral contact only occurs between one surface component of one of the two pairs of lateral abutment surfaces and one surface component of the pair of lateral stopping surfaces for cases of a sufficiently large side load on the cutting insert.

    摘要: A tool holder with fine infeed comprising a base body and a slide displaceably guided therein, the base body being structured for attachment to a member, such as a machine support or a work spindle. The slide is intended to receive a work tool. An infeed-threaded spindle is threadably retained in the slide, the thread play of the infeed-threaded spindle is eliminated by at least one spring. The spindle is mounted by means of three axial and two radial bearing locations relative to the slide and the base body. The outermost bearing location facing away from the spindle threading is constructed as an axial and radial swing or pivot bearing, and the pivot bearing as well as the neighboring bearing location forming an axial bearing are clamped to one another free of play.

    摘要: A tool holder assembly is provided for positioning any one of a plurality of tools for use on a work piece in a lathe, the assembly including a tool holder mountable on a tool block which has a pair of mounting faces. A first abutment extends from one face spaced from the vertical centerline thereof a first distance and a second abutment extends from the other face spaced a second and different distance from the centerline of that face. The tool holder is reversibly mountable on either face and has two pairs of adjustable set screws, the first pair being spaced a first equal distance on opposite sides of the vertical centerline of the locating face of the tool holder which first distance is equal to the spacing of the first abutment from the centerline of the one face of the tool block and the second pair spaced a second equal distance on opposite sides of the vertical centerline of the locating face of the tool holder which second distance is equal to the spacing of the second abutment from the centerline of the second face. With this structure, the tool holder may be adjustably mounted on either face and it may be reversed in so that it is useable with as many as four tools.

    摘要: This invention relates to a device for adjusting a machine tool through extremely small increments of movement by means of a micrometer dial attached to an adjusting screw. Rigidity of the tool is maintained, after adjustment, by a lock bolt which prevents movement of the tool-holding part relative to its base. The lock bolt includes an adjustment means attachable to the lock bolt for regulating locking pressure. Between the lock bolt and the tool-holding part is positioned a spring for maintaining a constant minimum pressure along the axis of movement of the toolholding part for eliminating backlash in component parts of the tool-holding part when direction of the cutting tool movement is reversed.
