    摘要: A frequency domain electromagnetic geophysical mapping instrument has a transmitter, a transmitter coil connected to the transmitter, the transmitter generating current pulse waveforms formed by half-sinusoidal output waveform segments of a waveform having a frequency equal to a resonant frequency of the transmitter coil, and a receiver, in which the transmitter generates current pulses including pulses comprising a plurality of immediately successive half-sinusoidal waveform segments of common polarity. The pulses immediately succeed each other and are of alternating polarity. The pulse lengths may in this case be equal, or vary in a manner providing a desired output spectrum, for example according to a pseudo-random sequence.

    摘要: A coil arrangement and method of collecting and processing data in induction logging of wells is disclosed. The coil arrangement includes three essentially identical coils made of elliptical conductive loops lying in a plane tilted from the axis of the logging tool. Each coil is centered on the same point in space. Data are preferably collected by using the coil arrangement for both transmitter and receiver, and transmitting at three closely-spaced frequencies, one from each of the transmitter coils. The transmitted signals are received and recorded, at which time they are operated on mathematically to create rotation of an after-the-fact virtual sonde for measuring desired earth formation properties.

    摘要: A transverse induction logging tool having a transmitter and receiver for downhole sampling of formation properties, the tool having a symmetrical shielded split-coil transmitter coil and a bucking coil interposed between the split transmitter coils to reduce coupling of the transmitter time varying magnetic field into the receiver. The tool provides symmetrical shielding of the coils and grounding at either the transmitter or receiver end only to reduce coupling of induced currents into the received signal. The tool provides an insulator between receiver electronics and the conductive receiver housing having contact with conductive wellbore fluid, to reduce parasitic current flowing in a loop formed by the upper housing, feed through pipe, lower housing and wellbore fluid adjacent the probe housing or mandrel. An internal verification loop is provided to track changes in transmitter current in the real and quadrature component of the received data signal. A galvanic electrode is housed in the same mandrel with the induction logging receiver and transmitter.

    摘要: An electromagnetic sensing apparatus which has an electromagnetic transmitter, at least one receiver device, at least one calibration device, a switch and a processor. The transmitter generates a transmitter signal. The receiver device is spaced from the transmitter, senses an electromagnetic field proximate thereto and generates a receiver signal. The calibration device senses an electromagnetic field proximate thereto and generates a calibration signal. The calibration device is positioned such that the distance between the transmitter and the receiver device is greater than the distance between the transmitter and the calibration device. The switch is connected between the receiver device and the calibration device. The processor includes a first input for receiving a signal from one of the at least one receiver device and the calibration device and a second input for receiving a signal from the switch and compares the first input and second input and monitors distortions in the transmitter signal.
