摘要： A system and apparatus for enhancing delivery of media services is disclosed. A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a set-top box that can have a controller element to present at a media device content information received over a broadband connection. The content information can be associated with at least one satellite service presented to the media device over satellite signals disassociated with the broadband connection. The content information can also be received responsive to a request for said content information. Additional embodiments are disclosed.

The video-on-demand server is configured to provide video-on-demand content through a broadband connection to a set-top box device. The authentication server is in communication with the video-on-demand server. The authentication server is configured to receive a request to allow access to a video-on-demand package that includes the video-on-demand content, to determine if a user is currently authorized to constantly receive a broadcast package that includes a plurality of broadcast channels related to the video-on-demand content, and to authorize a broadcast channel in the broadcast package when not currently authorized to receive the broadcast package.

The one or more distribution preferences comprise in part media content distribution arrangements assigned by the user between the plurality of media sources of the user and the plurality of media presentation devices of the user. 摘要： An Internet Protocol television (IPTV) system includes an advertising module adapted to read metadata information associated with an advertising item included within a content item recorded on a set-top box, determine that the advertising item is expired, and send another advertising item to the set-top box to be played on the set-top box in the place of the first advertising item when the content item is played on the set-top box. A method includes determining that an advertising item that is included within a content item that is recorded on a set-top box is expired, deleting the advertising item from the set-top box, recording a second advertising item on the set-top box, and playing the second advertising item in the place of the first advertising item when the content item is played on the set-top box.
