Abstract: A woman's shirt that is normally of hip length and is convertible into a shirt of waist length that in a first wearing mode has an underlying halter integral therewith, and in a second wearing mode an overlying halter. The shirt front is defined by left and right panels that can be buttoned together or left open, the back being of greater length to form a rear section that extends below the front. Extending across and normally covering the rear section is a fabric band whose ends are sewn to corresponding ends of the rear section and whose upper margin is joined by releasable fasteners to the lower margin of the left and right panels, the lower margin of the band being free. Complementary components of a connector are attached to the lower left and right corners of the band. To convert the shirt to the first wearing mode, the wearer releases the band from the panels, and then raises the band under the panels and over her head, thereby causing the band to yoke the neck of the wearer and to cover her bust. The complementary components of the connector are then joined together to create a halter underneath the panels. In converting the shirt to the second mode, the same procedure is followed, except that the band is raised to go over the panels and thereby create a halter that overlies the panels.

Abstract: A self-sufficient pocket for concealing a small item, the pocket being attachable to the inner surface of an undergarment or garment where it is accessible only to the wearer thereof. The pocket is composed of a rectangular back sheet marginally sealed to a larger rectangular front sheet except at the top side to leave a top entry to form an open pocket for receiving the item. The back sheet is centered with respect to the front sheet to define a frame-like border thereon which is coated with a layer of pressure-sensitive adhesive. When the loaded pocket is pressed against the inner surface of the garment, this action also serves to close the pocket. When the pocket is thereafter stripped off the garment, the pocket is then open and the item can be removed from the pocket.

Abstract: An air freshener unit having an impermeable backing sheet that is adherable to a substrate, and a facing sheet laminated to the backing sheet. Trapped between the sheets is a rupturable capsule containing a supply of a volatile fragrance. The facing sheet is formed of microporous, opaque material having good wicking properties. Printed on the rear surface of the facing sheet or on the front surface of the backing sheet is artwork that is normally blocked from view; but when the unit is activated by rupturing the capsule, the released fragrance is absorbed and exuded by the facing sheet which is made wet thereby and rendered translucent. As a result, the artwork becomes visible to a viewer. But when the exuded fragrance approaches exhaustion, the facing sheet, as it dries, reverts to its normal opacity, thereby causing the artwork to fade from view to signal to a user the need for a fresh unit.

Abstract: A replaceable air freshener unit adapted to be adhered to an automobile window to suffuse the interior of the vehicle with a pleasing or stimulating aroma. The unit is constituted by a bipartite rectangular frame and a transparent film chip having artwork thereon, the film chip being mounted behind the back section of the frame. The rear surface of the chip is coated with a layer of pressure-sensitive adhesive whereby the unit may be attached to the window at an appropriate site. The front section of the frame is impregnated with a volatile fragrance that is thematically related to the artwork and slowly released into the atmosphere. When the fragrance is exhausted, the unit may readily be detached from the window and replaced.

Abstract: A reversible fragrance emitting unit adapted to rest on a flat surface in either an upright or an upside down position, no fragrance being emitted in one position and fragrance being emitted in the other position, so that a switching action is effected simply by reversing the unit. The unit consists of a vented cylindrical shell closed at its upper end by a cover plate and at its lower end by a bottom wall. Disposed within the shell and secured to the cover plate is an absorbent pad. Joined to the pad is the leading end of a series of interhinged absorbent elements in an accordian formation, the trailing end of the series being joined to a weight whereby when the unit is upside down, the accordian is collapsed on the bottom wall and compressed by the overlying weight, and when the unit is reversed in position and is made upright, the weight drops to the bottom wall, thereby expanding the accordian. The pad and the elements of the accordian are impregnated with a volatile fragrance, the pad acting as a reservoir therefor, whereby in the upside down position of the unit when the accordian is collapsed, no fragrance is emitted, and when in the upright position in which the accordian is expanded to expose the elements thereof, fragrance is emitted.

Abstract: A replaceable air freshener primarily for use on the tiled wall of a bathroom or kitchen. The air freshener is formed by a transparent plastic face film laminated to a transparent plastic backing film to create a laminate whose dimensions match those of a standard tile. The rear surface of the backing film has a low tack, clear adhesive thereon whereby the laminate may be adhered to a selected tile on the wall or readily removed therefrom. The face film is constituted by a polymeric matrix having myriad cells dispersed therein impregnated with a volatile fragrance which is slowly released from the face film into the atmosphere of the room. Screened on the front surface of the backing film is an artwork which is visible through the face film and has a background field imparted thereto by the color of the tile onto which the laminate is adhered so that the artwork is then in harmony with the tiled wall. The emitted fragrance from the face film is thematically released to the artwork so that should the artwork be the Xmas tree, the fragrance will be that of pine.

Abstract: A night light assembly which plugs into and is supported by an electrical wall outlet whose orientation on the wall is either horizontal or vertical. The assembly, when switched on, produces low-level illumination and at the same time exudes an aromatic vapor. The assembly includes a reflector shell having housed therein a low-wattage bulb. Attached to the open front of the shell is a frame adapted to accommodate a removable window cartridge having a transparent plate whose rear face is covered by a thin pad of light-permeable porous material impregnated with a volatile aromatic liquid. The shell is vented, and as the air therein is heated and expanded by heat emanating from the bulb, a convection current is produced which flows across the pad to volatilize the liquid, thereby creating an aromatic vapor that is discharged through the vent. Adherable to the front face of the window plate is a translucent sheet having a picture thereon of an object possessing a characteristic odor, the fragrance of the aromatic vapor being thematically related thereto. The sheet is so adhered to the plate as to orient the picture thereon to conform to the existing orientation of the outlet into which the assembly is plugged.

Abstract: A scratch and smell game for pre-school children which makes use of a playing board on whose front face is printed drawings of different fruits or other odor-producing objects, each having a characteristic smell. At a site adjacent each fruit on the front face is a removable chip seated in a cutout in the board and forming a part of the board, the chips all having the same geometry. Coated on the front face of each chip is a layer of rupturable capsules containing a fragrance whose smell matches that of the particular fruit adjacent thereto. Printed on the rear face of the board are drawings of the same fruits, portions of these printed drawings being included on the rear faces of the chips so that the chips are necessary to complete the drawings. In playing the game, the player first removes all chips from the board and then shuffles them so that their proper sites on the front face of the board are no longer known. He then scratches each chip; and after smelling the resultant fragrance, places the chip in the cutout at that site on the front face of the board which is adjacent the fruit which he believes gives off the same smell. After all chips are scratched and placed, the player turns over the board to examine the drawings on the rear face thereof. The player wins the game only if all of the drawings on the rear face are properly completed by the chips.

Abstract: A disposable nail polish-removing thimble capable of quickly dissolving and removing the enamel coating from the surface of a fingernail or toenail, the thimble having a sufficient capacity to remove the polish from a full set of an individual's nails. The thimble is constituted by a miniature plastic cup having a peel-off cover, the cup housing a flexible foam plastic sponge saturated with an enamel solvent. The sponge has a center slit therein into which one may insert a finger or toe, the thimble then being rotated relative to the inserted member to remove the nail polish.
