摘要： Techniques are described to embed graphical identifiers into a ghost image within a layer of laminate of an identification document. The ghost image includes optically variable media that has a first appearance when viewed from a front of the identification document in reflected light at a first angle and a second, different appearance when viewed from the front of the identification document in reflected light in a second, different angle. During the ghost image generation process, a graphical identifier can be placed on a baseline ghost image to generate an adjusted ghost image. Once the adjusted ghost image is printed onto the identification document, the graphical identifier can be viewable based on the appearance of the adjusted ghost identifier in relation to the reflected light.

摘要： An article includes a substrate and a graphical component forming an image and an optical component which includes magnetic pigment flakes aligned so as to form a frame pattern which surrounds the image. When light is incident upon the pigment flakes from a light source, light reflected from the frame pattern forms a dynamic frame which surrounds the image and appears to move as the substrate is tilted with respect to the light source. The image appears to be stationary when the dynamic frame appears to move.

摘要： In a printed article, pigment flakes are magnetically aligned so as to form curved patterns in a plurality of cross-sections normal a continuous imaginary line, wherein radii of the curved patterns increase along the imaginary line from the first point to the second point. When light is incident upon the aligned pigment flakes from a light source, light reflected from the aligned pattern forms a bright image which appears to gradually change its shape and move from one side of the continuous imaginary line to another side of the continuous imaginary line when the substrate is tilted with respect to the light source.

摘要： A method of manufacturing a pattern on a substrate web includes providing a production tool having a surface relief structure of elevations and depressions. The elevations correspond to a desired pattern. A curable material is applied to the elevations. The material is brought into contact with a substrate web at a first location. The substrate web and surface relief structure are transported together in contact from the first location to a second location spaced from one another along the transport direction of the substrate web. The substrate web is separated from the surface relief structure at the second location whereupon the material forming the pattern is affixed to and carried by the substrate web. The material is cured by exposure to a curing energy source, either between the first and second locations and/or after the substrate web has been separated from the surface relief structure at the second location.
