    摘要: A fixation system (10) includes a device having a nail portion (12) and a plate portion (14), preferably horizontally and vertically offset relative to the nail portion by a neck portion (16). The nail portion (12) includes preferably threaded screw holes (24, 26), and the plate portion (14) includes longitudinally displaced peg holes (50, 52, 54), each of which is adapted to orient a peg (56, 58, 60) in a different orientation from the others. The system (10) also includes unicortical screws (28) having a reasonably large head (36) adapted to seat against the outer surface of the bone and a threaded shaft (32) adapted to engage in the screw holes (24, 26), and pegs (56, 58, 60) adapted to engage in the peg holes (50, 52, 54). Where threaded screw holes (24, 26) are used, bone is clamped between the nail portion (12) and the head (36) of the unicortical screws (28, 30). The pegs (56, 58, 60) provide stabilization and support for subchondral fragments. Moreover, as the pegs (56, 58, 60) preferably enter the subchondral fragments from a plurality of directions, additional fixation of the device (10) into the bone is provided.

    摘要: A fixation plate includes a set of threaded peg holes adapted to individually receive fixation pegs therethrough and non-threaded alignment holes having a relatively smaller diameter than the peg holes and preferably sized to closely receive a K-wire. The alignment holes are located between the peg holes. One alignment hole is configured for aligning the plate during an osteotomy procedure, while other alignment holes are configured for use after fracture reduction and receive K-wires to temporarily stabilize the fracture and secure the plate to the bone and determine whether pegs inserted through adjacent respective peg holes will be properly located before drilling relatively larger holes for such pegs. The head of the plate has a shape and contour which provides bone support and a low profile which minimizes the potential for soft tissue irritation.

    摘要: A bone plate clamp includes a C-shaped frame with opposing arms spaced apart about a bridge portion. One arm includes a threaded bore into which an adjustable clamping screw having a clamping end is inserted. The clamping screw defines a longitudinal drill guide. The opposite arm has a V-shaped surface oriented to support the bone at two points on the opposite side of the bone from the clamping end of the screw such that the bone clamp securely holds the bone and the bone plate together at three points. The bridge portion is structured to flex when the clamp applies a compressive force between the first and second arms. Flexing of the bridge applies a preload to the clamp which allows the clamp to function as a spring and maintain compression over a range of bone-plate dimensions. The bone plate clamp also includes a removable handle.

    摘要: A volar fixation system includes a T-shaped plate intended to be positioned against the volar side of the radial bone, a plurality of bone screws for securing the plate along an non-fractured portion of the radial bone, and a plurality of bone pegs which extend from the plate and into bone fragments of a Colles' fracture. The plate is a T-shaped plate including a plurality of screw holes and a plurality of threaded peg holes. According to a first preferred aspect of the invention, the peg holes are preferably linearly or parabolically arranged and provided such that the holes are positioned increasingly distal in a medial to lateral direction along the second side. According to a second preferred aspect, axes through the holes are oblique relative to each other and preferably angled relative to each other in two dimensions. The system includes a guide plate which temporarily sits on top of the volar plate and includes holes oriented according to the axes of the peg holes for guiding a drill into the bone fragments at the required orientation. The volar plate is positioned against the radius and screws are inserted through the screw holes to secure the volar plate to the radius. The bone fragments are aligned, and the guide plate assists in drilling pilot hole. The pegs are inserted through the peg holes and into the drilled holes in the bone. The volar system thereby secures the bone fragments in proper orientation.
