摘要: A medical stapler includes a front wall having an opening at a lower end portion thereof. A mirror is mounted in the vicinity of an upper edge of this opening. A straight line, representing a wound pinched by a pincette by the operator, is reflected on the mirror. The operator adjusts the posture of the stapler so that the straight line of the actual wound can be aligned with the straight line reflected on the mirror, and in this condition the staple is shaped so as to effect the suturing of the wound.

摘要: In a surgical needle, marks of welding are left as they are on a welded portion between needle and pipe members so that the welded portion has a surface distinguishable from peripheral surfaces of the respective needle and pipe members. The welded portion may be composed of a plurality of peripherally spaced welded parts. In a manufacturing method of the surgical needle, a beam energy is applied from a beam energy emitting arrangement, toward an abutting line between the needle and pipe members, from a direction substantially perpendicular to the needle and pipe members, thereby welding them to each other. In a manufacturing apparatus, a rotational support arrangement is provided for supporting the needle and pipe members in such a manner that end faces of the respective needle and pipe members are abutted against each other at a location coincident with an optical axis of the laser beam, and for rotating the needle and pipe members about their respective axes.

摘要: A method of and an apparatus for staking a proximal end of an operating needle, with one end of a suture being inserted into a bore in the proximal end of the needle, to attach the suture to the needle. A staking unit has a pair of staking disc at least one of which is movable relative to the other. The dies are respecitvely provided therein with recesses between which the proximal end of the needle is staked. The staking unit is mounted on a table so as to be demountable therefrom. An electric power supply unit is provided which is separate from the staking unit, but is connected thereto through a plug and a socket. A foot switch is connected to the power supply unit for controlling the operation of the staking unit. A plurality of the staking units are prepared which include their respective pairs of staking dies different in dimension of the recesses from each other. One of the staking units is selected, which includes its corresponding pair of staking dies adapted to a needle to be staked.

摘要: A method for forming a suture-receiving hole in an eyeless suture needle. An oxidation resistant needle material and a heat resistant pressing tool are provided. The base end of the needle is heated to a temperature near its melting point and the heat resistant perforating tool is pressed into the base of the needle to form the desired suture-receiving hole. As an alternative, a preliminary hole can be formed in the base end of the needle material before the perforating tool is pressed into the hole as the final finishing step. Other variations include rotating or vibrating the perforating tool as it is pressed into the base end of the needle.
