    摘要: A projection optical unit has two lens groups. A first projection optical unit disposed closest to an image display element, temporarily forms a first enlarged image (magnification: M1) at the image display element side, rather than at a second projection optical unit. The first enlarged image is subsequently projected in an enlarged form (magnification: M2, wherein M2>M1) onto a screen via the second projection optical unit. A field lens group having positive refractive power is disposed between the first projection optical unit and the second projection optical unit. Consequently, the relationship between F2, which is the F-value of the second projection optical unit, and F1, which is the F-value of the first projection optical unit, becomes F2=F1/M1, whereby it is possible to realize very-wide-angle imaging at a field angle exceeding 90 degrees.

    摘要: An optical unit, comprising: a light source; a color separation means for separating a light emitted from the light source into plural pieces of color lights; reflection-type image display elements, upon each being incident the corresponding color of the lights from the color separation means, and for forming an optical image for each of the color lights, depending upon an image signal, with using polarization characteristics which the reflection-type image display elements have; and a color synthesizing means for synthesizing the optical images of the respective color lights, to be projected through a projection lens, enlargedly, and further comprising: a reflection-type polarization plate functioning as a polarization plate due to diffraction, being provided on an optical path extending from the color separation means to the reflection-type image display elements, to be a polarizer and an analyzer to the reflection-type image display elements; and an optical chassis for holding the reflection-type polarization plate and the reflection-type image display elements thereon, and having a translucent window on an incident light side of the reflection-type polarization plate while an exiting light side of the reflection-type polarization plate is sealed with an incident surface of the color synthesizing means, wherein a hermetically sealed space is defined by the optical chassis, the reflection-type image display elements and the incident surface of the color synthesizing means, and within the hermetically sealed space is disposed a translucent liquid having refraction index from 1.2 to 1.9.

    摘要: For dissolving ununiformity in the brightness of a projection image within a display image apparatus, obtaining an enlarged projection image through an oblique projection of image lights onto a rear-surface projection type screen, wherein an image from an image generating source 1 is projected through a projection optical system, having a projection lens 2, curved surface reflection mirrors 4 and 5, a reflection mirror 6, from a rear surface of the rear-surface projection type screen 3, within a housing 7 being narrow in depth thereof; the rear-surface projection type screen includes a Fresnel lens sheet 8, wherein the prism surfaces of the Fresnel lens making up the Fresnel lens sheet are formed in an aspheric configuration, thereby letting the light beams from the screen to exit at an exit angle of about zero (0) degree, almost all over the entire surface thereof. With this, it is possible to obtain a projection image, being uniform in the brightness thereof as a whole, and thin-sizing of the image display apparatus, as well.

    摘要: A projection type image display device using, in a projection optical system thereof, a flat mirror, which is easy to design and manufacture, as a projection mirror is provided. The projection optical system is a diagonal projection optical system and includes plural lenses. Among the plural lenses, the one disposed closest to the flat mirror has an effective area, along the vertical direction of an image, through which a light beam passes and which is off an optical axis of the other plurality of lenses, shared by the most lenses so as not to allow light reflected from the projection mirror to return to the projector body. A polarization converter using, for example, a quarter wavelength plate is provided at an output surface of a crossed prism to decrease reflectance differences between differently colored light and to thereby prevent the occurrence of color unevenness.
