Abstract: The disclosure relates to a pre-5th-generation (5G) or 5G communication system to be provided for supporting higher data rates Beyond 4th-generation (4G) communication system such as long term evolution (LTE). The embodiments of the disclosure provide a session setup method, including: receiving a message for creating a session management context; selecting a user plane functional entity (UPF) for redundant session processing in response to the message; and setting up a packet data unit (PDU) session corresponding to the UPF. There are further provided a session setup method for a base station and related devices. The above technical solutions can realize reliability of service transmission.

The method provided in the present application achieves the effect of updating the configuration of the first node during the handover of the first node when moving, so that the relay node may continuously provide service for a user equipment accessing the first node.
