摘要: A driving method of a plasma display device according to an exemplary embodiment groups a plurality of address electrodes extending in a first direction into a plurality of groups, and logically divides each of the groups into a plurality of sub-groups. During a first period, a first pulse is sequentially applied to the plurality of groups, and a second pulse is sequentially applied to the plurality of sub-groups included in at least one of the plurality of groups during a second period following the first period. The first and second periods are address periods for sensing in a second direction crossing the first direction.

摘要: A plasma display device includes a plasma display panel (PDP) and a driving method for driving the PDP. The PDP includes discharge cells that are formed by scan electrodes, sustain electrodes, and address electrodes. The driving method divides a frame of the plasma display panel into a plurality of subfields having respective weights in which gray scales are represented by a combination of the subfields. The plurality of subfields are divided into a first group and a second group. In an address period of a subfield of the first having a lowest weight subfield of the plurality of subfields, the method applies a scan voltage and an address voltage respectively to the scan electrode and the address electrode of a discharge cell to be selected from the discharge cells. The scan voltage is applied to the scan electrode and the scan electrode is floated.

摘要: A PDP driving method. No rising ramp voltage is applied to a scan electrode during a reset period. The final voltage of a falling ramp voltage is reduced to a voltage by which all the discharge cells can fire the discharge during the reset period. A difference between the voltage applied to the address electrode of the discharge cell to be selected and the voltage applied to the scan electrode is established to be greater than the maximum discharge firing voltage.

摘要: A panel capacitor is formed by a scan electrode and a sustain electrode. The voltage at the panel capacitor is reduced by turning on a transistor coupled between the scan electrode and the capacitor. As a result, the voltage within the panel capacitor exceeds the discharge firing voltage to discharge the panel capacitor. When the gate voltage of the transistor is reduced by an RC circuit, the transistor is turned off, and the scan electrode is floated. A discharge is then steeply quenched, and wall charges are finely controlled. Next, the above-noted operation is repeated by turning on the transistor.

A number of subfields are generated from input video signals, and subfield data for each subfield are output. A first voltage is applied to the first electrode according to sustain information to cause a discharge in a first discharge space, and the first electrode is floated during a period which corresponds to subfield data of a previous subfield. During this process, the floating time is controlled according to the number of addressed cells called for in previous subfield data.

摘要: A driving apparatus of a plasma display panel. In a scan electrode driving circuit, a drain of a first transistor is coupled to a scan electrode, and a driver of the first transistor is coupled to the gate and a source of the first transistor. During a reset period, the driver turns on the first transistor and reduces a voltage at a scan electrode and then turns off the first transistor so as to gradually reduce the voltage of the scan electrode by floating the scan electrode. Further, a selecting voltage may be applied to the scan electrode by turning on the first and second transistors during an address period. Thus, the transistor used during the reset period may be used in the address period.
