    摘要： An arrangement for maintaining in slidable engagement a pair of telescoping flexible plastic tubular elements such as are employed for inserting tampons or the like. In the tube comprising the outer element a short interior portion at the trailing end is tapered down in diameter to provide the rear opening of the tube with an internal diameter slightly less than the internal diameter of the remaining major portion of the outer tube. The inner ejector element is a tube of small diameter with a plurality of exterior parallel fins uniformly spaced around the tube circumference and extending longitudinally thereof. A line circumscribing the external edges of these exterior fins is of a diameter significantly larger than the internal diameter of the opening at the trailing end of the outer tube but no larger than the internal diameter of the remaining portion of the outer tube so that when the two elements are fitted together the fin edges are in firm but slidable engagement with the rear opening of the outer tube.

    摘要： Three strips of paper are supplied, under constant, low tension, to the fixed mandrel of a helical tube winding apparatus. A strip supply mechanism senses strip tension, and by means of a mechanical feedback arrangement, regulates the tension. The inner, mandrel-engaging strip is provided with a lubricating medium in the form of lycopodium powder supplied to the inner strip in metered fashion. Liquid adhesive is applied to all surfaces of the strip forming the intermediate ply by an adhesive-applying unit including a pair of opposed, rounded doctor surfaces for removing excess adhesive from the faces of the strip and equalizing the thicknesses of the adhesive layers on the faces. The maintenance of uniform, equally thick layers of adhesive on both faces of the strip during its travel to the mandrel from the doctor surfaces in enhanced by having the strip move through a 180 degree twist.

The method includes obtaining a first applicator; obtaining onset crystallization temperature for the first applicator; obtaining a second applicator; obtaining L*, a*, b* values for the second applicator; configuring a third applicator comprising an onset crystallization temperature which is within 3 percent of the onset crystallization temperature of the first applicator; configuring the third applicator to have an L* value within 20 percent of the L* value for the second applicator; configuring the third applicator to have an a* value within 20 percent of the a* value for the second applicator; and configuring the third applicator to have a b* value within 20 percent of the b* value for the second applicator.
