The combined tampon applicator section and plunger section function as a conventional plunger-type tampon applicator. The outer housing section includes a sleeve with a proximal portion and a distal portion. The (distal) insertion end of the tampon applicator section essentially fits inside the proximal portion of the sleeve, and the distal portion of the sleeve is designed to accommodate a feminine hygiene product, such as a pad, a disposable wipe, a towelette disposal mitt, a simple disposal bag, and other products associated with menstruation.

    摘要： An applicator for a tampon comprises an outer cylinder (2) containing an absorber (4) therein and provided with a petal-like components (8) for pushing out the absorber (4) on one side thereof and with a grip cylinder (7) on the other side thereof, and an inner tube (3) which is inserted into the grip cylinder (7) and can push out the absorber (4) to the outside from the petal-like components (8) by moving into the outer cylinder (2). A plurality of rows of annular protrusions (11, 12, 13, 14) are formed in the whole area of the grip cylinder (7) in the circumferential direction, such that the height from the outer circumferential surface of the grip cylinder (7) decreases gradually toward the side of the inner tube (3) being inserted into the grip cylinder (7).

Methods of delivering an insertable device into a body cavity may include the steps of moving a plunger into an insertion member to dispense fluid lubricant to the outer surface of the insertion member; the step of inserting an insertion member portion having encapsulated lubricant on an outer surface thereof into a body cavity thereby rupturing the capsule; and/or the steps of moving a plunger into an insertion member, rupturing a reservoir containing fluid lubricant, moving the fluid lubricant toward the outer surface of the insertion member, and inserting the insertion member into the body cavity.

    摘要： An insertion device 10 for inserting material 13 into a body cavity is provided. An elongate, tubular holder 12, shaped for insertion into the body cavity, is adapted to hold the material to be inserted. The holder 12 has a material expulsion end portion 14 and a plunger 20, which is telescopically and slidably mounted in the holder, which is adapted to expel the material from the holder when pushed manually into the holder. The holder, and preferably the plunger as well, comprises an outer paper layer 28 and a polymer layer 30, adhered to the paper layer on its outer surface, the layer having adequate water resistance to maintain its integrity during insertion into the body cavity.
