    摘要： A container for eggs which uniformly orients eggs so that a substantial amount of surface area of the egg is uniformly presented for marking and viewing. The container has receptacles that may include one or more guidance features configured to automatically guide eggs to settle into a preferred resting orientation with the eggs uniformly centered and tilted slightly backward within their receptacles. The receptacles are designed to resist movement of the eggs from their resting orientation during marking, shipping or handling. Optionally, guidance and stabilizing features may cooperate to maintain eggs in a desired resting orientation.

    摘要： An improved egg tray is disclosed. The egg tray is comprised of a thin-walled body of rigid fiber pulp material and has a plurality of pockets and a plurality of posts. Each pocket has a bottom surrounded by a plurality of posts and each pocket has an egg-supporting surface for supporting an egg. The egg-supporting surface is a continuous part of a substantially ellipsoidal surface approximating the surface of the pointed part of an egg, and the pockets are within an egg size interval for which the egg tray is intended to be used. The egg-supporting surface has a continuous circular zone and a plurality of lower tongues extending downwardly from the continuous zone. Advantageously, the egg-supporting surface has a plurality of upper tongues extending upwardly on the sides of the posts from the continuous zone.

    摘要： A molded carton is provided for accommodating a plurality of fragile articles arranged in at least three parallel rows. The carton includes a tray section having formed therein rows of article-accommodating cells separated from one another by rows of upright posts. The rows of cells and posts are confined between elongated side walls and end walls, the latter interconnecting the side walls. The side walls have upper edge portions defining a common plane. A predetermined number of the posts extend a substantial distance above the common plane. Hingedly connected to the upper edge portions of the side walls are elongated closure flaps. Each flap, when in a closed position, is adapted to assume a substantially cantilevered relation with respect to the adjacent row of cells. Each closed flap has segments of the elongated free edge thereof supportingly engaged by the upper ends of a predetermined number of posts disposed within the adjacent row of posts.
