    摘要: The present invention is a fairlead for guiding and securing an anchor chain between an offshore structure and an anchor. The fairlead comprises a fairlead frame, a pivoting latch, and an actuator. The fairlead frame is pivotally mounted to the offshore structure and supports an axle for a chain sheave. The pivoting latch is mounted to pivot on the axle and comprises a tension link with a chain latch and a counterweight for urging the chain latch into engagement with the chain. The pivoting latch is configured to engage the chain only when the chain is traveling in the payout direction. The actuator controls the action of the counterweight.

    摘要: An improved fairlead reduces the problems associated with deploying and rieving a towing cable and its interconnected elongate instrumentation array. A pair of parallel rollers orthogonally disposed to a storage winch reel are spaced apart to present a smooth, protuberance-free surface to accommodate the elongate instrumentation array. A shell coaxially disposed about each of the cylinders is rotated to cover the smooth protuberance-free surfaces and present a pair of abrasion-resistant surfaces when the towing cable is reeled in or payed out. Since it is likely that the abrasion-resistant surface might be scored by the towing cable, rotating the abrasion-resistant surfaces out of the way to expose the protuberance-free accommodating surfaces when the array goes through the fairlead helps reduce the possibility of damage of the elongate instrumentation array during deployment and recovery.

    摘要: A marine block employs a sheave which is rotatively mounted on an axle supported between a pair of spaced-apart cheek plates. One or more ball bearing units are provided between the axle and the sheave, each unit containing a circular array of ball bearings which engage in circular races which are disposed radially outward from the axis of the axle. Relatively large ports are formed in the cheek plates which are located directly opposite the bearing units whereby a water stream directed through the ports at one side of the block can penetrate around and between the exposed ball bearings and their races and scrub those surfaces free of dirt and film. In a preferred block embodiment, clearance spaces exist radially inboard of the sheave between the bearing units and between the sheave and the cheek plates so that water can travel directly through the block and between the sheave and the cheek plates to further facilitate cleaning the block.

A curved arm extends upwardly and aft to provide a smooth rubbing surface that is aligned with the general direction of a rode or other line. Spaced from the arm is a roller assembly having a top plate with portions extending forward and toward the center of the boat. A roller rotates with the line if it bends around the roller thereby to minimize wear on the line. The plate and the curved arm capture the line.
