摘要:
An compressor utilizing a flow of fluid down a vertical column to entrain air, or other gas, and compress it under the head of the flow. Compressed air is then separated from the flow in an air separation chamber at the bottom of the vertical column. In one application, the compressed gas is used to cool a deep underground mine. In another application, the system is used to separate chemical compounds from gaseous mixtures, such as the exhaust gases of fossil fuelled power plants. In a further application, the system is integrated into a domestic or commercial air conditioning system. The system can also be used as part of a minimum work vapour compression refrigerator.

A bonnet captures exhaust gases from the exhaust pipes of diesel-powered locomotives. The bonnet includes a shell with a compliant fender. One or more of the bonnets are positioned over the exhaust pipe or pipes of the locomotive and are secured to the exhaust pipes or to a top surface of the locomotive. The bonnets are connected to a manifold, and the manifold carries the exhaust gasses to an Emissions Control Unit (ECU) for processing. The bonnets enclose a volume above and/or around the exhaust pipes and the compliant bumper closes against the internal or external surface of the exhaust pipe or pipes or against the top surface of the locomotive surrounding the exhaust pipe or pipes. The closing prevents or limits outside air from entering the bonnet and the exhaust gases from being emitted to the atmosphere.

The invention provides an airflow regulator for a mine passage, comprising: a louver blade pivotable to a predetermined position, which is in a range from a closed position in which the louver blade restricts at least a portion of the passage to an open position in which air is readily able to flow in the passage; and a linkage mechanism for pivoting the louver blade wherein the linkage mechanism includes a biasing strut mechanism which is only activated to pivot the louver blade into the open position when a predetermined airflow is reached and biases the louver blade to its predetermined position after the airflow has reduced to less than the predetermined airflow.

The optimized mine ventilation system of this invention supplements mine ventilation basic control systems composed of PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers with human machine interfaces from vendors such as Allen-Bradley™, Modicon™ and others) or DCSs (Distributed Control System from vendors such as ABB™ and others) with supervisory control establishing a dynamic ventilation demand as a function of real-time tracking of machinery and/or personnel location and where this demand is optimally distributed in the work zones via the mine ventilation network and where the energy required to ventilate is minimized while totally satisfying the demand for each work zones. The optimized mine ventilation system operates on the basis of a predictive dynamic simulation model of the mine ventilation network along with emulated control equipment such as fans and air flow regulators. The model always reaches an air mass flow balance where the pressure and density is preferably compensated for depth and accounts for the natural ventilation pressure flows due to temperature differences. Model setpoints are checked for safety bounds and sent to real physical control equipment via the basic control system.

A system, in accordance with the invention, relates to ventilating a tunnel 1 in the event of fire or emission of gases C or aerosols. The system comprises a tunnel cover 20 and a mobile fan 21. The tunnel cover 20 has an opening 29 through which the fan 21 blows air. This increases the static pressure at the cover 20, which change the direction of air at a desired direction. One of the advantages of the invention is that the tunnel cover 20 makes it possible to utilise considerably smaller mobile fans 21 to ventilate a tunnel 1 in the event of fire or emission of gases than when using earlier known techniques.

A compressor fuel gas conditioner for a natural gas well having a compressor which utilizes natural gas from the well as a fuel. The conditioner includes a vortex tube having an inlet to receive compressed natural gas from the compressor, a warm gas outlet for gas which has been heated by circular motion in the vortex tube, and a cool gas outlet for cool gas exiting the vortex tube after passing through the tube wherein the warm gas is returned to an inlet side of the compressor. A salt dryer includes a dryer inlet to receive the cool gas exiting the cool gas outlet of the vortex tube and a dryer outlet to deliver gas from the salt dryer as fuel gas to the compressor.

A system for extracting natural gas from natural gas hydrates utilizing a first conduit positioned in the natural gas hydrate containing strata. A flowable heat containing medium is urged through the first conduit and contacts the natural gas hydrate in the strata. The natural gas vapor produced is directed through a second conduit to a collector located adjacent the exit of the second conduit the natural gas is directed to storage or use facilities.

A rotary cutter head for a mining machine is provided with a plurality of cutter tools mounted on an annular end component which defines the end of the cutter head remote from the mining machine. Ventilating means are provided comprising air flow guide passages having air flow inducing spray means, the air flow inlets to the guide passages being in an exposed zone in which the action of cut mineral and/or of the newly exposed working face tends to scour the inlets preventing the build up of damp, fine mineral particles and thereby tending to prevent blockage of the inlets.

A clamp for use in a mine stopping formed by a plurality of elongate extensible panels extending vertically from the floor to the roof of a passageway in a mine. The stopping comprises a series of main panels extending vertically side-by-side, with a space between two adjacent main panels, and a lap-over panel extending vertically and bridging the space. The clamp comprises a crosshead adapted to fit in the lap-over panel extending laterally of the lap-over panel and a hook-receiving stem slidable on the crosshead lengthwise of the crosshead. The slidable hook-receiving stem is formed to have hooks at the ends of a wire tie hooked thereto with the tie extending around a bar to draw the crosshead via the stem toward lips of the lap-over panel to clamp the latter in place.
