    摘要: A suspension system for a track driven vehicle such as a snowmobile, which has a vehicle body and a rigid frame, the suspension system pivotally interconnecting the body with the frame and comprising spaced front and rear support frames. The front support frame carries front torsion spring members having spring arms extending longitudinally along the rigid frame, each front torsion spring means having a spring arm engaging a cam surface on the rigid frame to vary the effective length of the torsion spring arm, the torsion spring arm being engageable with a cam edge of selected configuration to provide a desired progressive spring rate response to vertical displacement of the vehicle body with respect to the rigid frame. The rear support frame similarly includes torsion spring members each having spring arms for engagement with cam surfaces carried by the rigid frame to vary the effective length of the spring arm, the spring arm being engageable with a cam edge of selected configuration to provide a progressive spring rate during vertical displacement of the vehicle body with respect to the rigid frame. The rear support frame is pivotally connected to the rigid frame through side link members, one end of each link member having a pivotal connection with the rigid frame and the other end of each link member having a pivotal connection to a transverse member of the rear support frame. This transverse member is provided at a transverse axis of a bell crank lever system comprising a crank arm which is pivotally interconnected to a piston-cylinder shock absorber means carried by the rigid frame. The axis of the lower transverse member of the rear support frame is movable in an arc determined by the side links connecting the axis to the rigid frame and provides a movable, floating axis for the rear support frame to not only increase vertical displacement of the vehicle body but to also facilitate a selected progressive spring rate in the resilient suspension of the rear support frame.

The resiliency of the suspension device is adjusted to prevent skidding of the rear portion of the endless track.

    摘要: The disclosure herein describes a slide rail for use in a snowmobile-type suspension assembly; the rail consists of an elongated member with a bottom wall and two side walls. Each side wall is provided with a pair of longitudinally spaced slots, one slot of one side wall being transversely aligned with a slot of the other side wall. The elongated member is mounted to a bearing shaft transversely extending beneath the vehicle, by means of separate link members with one end pivotally mounted on the shaft and with the other end adjacent the slots, of fastening members extending through the slots and securing the lower ends of the link members, and of torsion spring means which are supported on the bearing shaft and include end portions in yielding engagement with link members disposed fore and aft relative to the bearing shaft and urging the link members in a downward direction to thereby cause the rail to maintain contact pressure on the lower run of the track.

    摘要: A track suspension means for vehicles having endless track drive and support surfaces, the vehicle having frame means with forward and rear mounting points. The track suspension means which is coupled to the vehicle at the mounting points includes longitudinally flexible leaf spring means, the leaf spring means having an axis disposed generally parallel to the track axis, and being adapted to flex vertically. The leaf spring, which carries a plurality of supporting means for the track, is secured at its forward end to the vehicle frame at the forward mounting point. The endless track suspension means includes forwardly and rearwardly disposed sprockets inscribed within the endless track, and mounting means are provided for the sprockets including mounting shafts. Track propelling means are coupled to the forwardly disposed sprockets, and track tensioning means and the rear of said leaf spring are operatively coupled to the rearwardly disposed sprockets. Pivot linkage means are provided for coupling the rear sprocket mounting means to the vehicle at the rear mounting point. The pivot linkage means includes a first arm pivotally coupled to the vehicle mounting point and with a floating pivot shaft journaled to the other end of the first arm. A second arm is provided having one end journaled to the floating pivot, and with the other end coupled to the rear sprocket mounting means. Resilient spring bias means are coupled to the second arm and normally urge the mounting shaft means for the rearwardly disposed sprockets in a direction toward the lower span of the endless track.

    摘要: A suspension system for a tracked vehicle including a unitary suspension frame with track wheels mounted thereon for engagement with the lower run of the drive track. Idler means mounted on the rear end of the suspension frame support the rear end of the drive track. Spring means are provided to support the vehicle body on the suspension frame. The spring means are connected such that a predetermined amount of longitudinal relative movement is permitted between the suspension frame and the body. A rearwardly and downwardly sloping control arm is pivotally connected between the body and the front end of the suspension frame so that the forwardly located track wheels are forced downwardly by the control arm when the suspension frame moves forwardly with respect to the body.
