摘要： A method of processing a message in a messaging service client device that has a user interface device includes with the messaging service client device, ascertaining a proposed recipient for a message entered by a user with the user interface device; determining a set of potential recipients for the message with the messaging service client device, the set of potential recipients including the proposed recipient; determining whether, among the set of potential recipients, the proposed recipient is a most likely recipient of the message; and responsive to a determination that the proposed recipient is not the most likely recipient, providing a notification to the user through the user interface device that the proposed recipient is not the most likely recipient.

摘要： In a messaging system interfaced through the Internet, a method for processing a message from a sender and intended for delivery to at least one recipient, which sender is interfaced to the Internet through a sender server and which recipient is interfaced to the Internet through a recipient server, where the message includes at least recipient information and message body, is disclosed. The method includes testing the recipient information by establishing a temporary test connection through the Internet from the sender server to the recipient server, before relying on the recipient information for sending the message, so as to provide an indication of deliverability of the message to the recipient without using an SMTP VRFY command.

According to one embodiment, an electronic communication, such as an electronic mail (email) message, is scanned to determine whether the electronic communication contains one or more suspicious addresses or represents a suspicious traffic pattern. If the electronic communication is determined to contain one or more suspicious addresses or is determined to represent a suspicious traffic pattern, then the electronic communication is handled in accordance with an electronic communication security policy associated with suspicious electronic communications. For example, an event may be logged, the electronic communication may be dropped or quarantined, the communication may be tagged as spam or possible phishing and/or an end user may be alerted to the existence of the one or more suspicious addresses.

In an embodiment of the invention, a method for instant messaging based social introductions can be provided. The method can include selecting contacts from a buddy list of an instant messenger, retrieving attributes for each of the selected contacts, and generating introduction text for each of the selected contacts. Specifically, the introduction text can introduce a particular one of the selected contacts and can incorporate attributes for the particular one of the contacts. Finally, the method can include instant messaging the introduction text for each of the selected contacts to another of the selected contacts.
