摘要： An improved fuser cleaning purge cycle system of cleaning imaging material from a fuser (particularly, a fuser roll) of a copy reproducing apparatus after an inadvertent interruption of the operation of the apparatus, such as by a paper jam, in which the fuser was potentially contaminated with imaging material from a copy sheet being fused, wherein the reproducing apparatus has an alternative duplex copying path; comprising, automatically, sequentially feeding a preset limited number of preexisting conventional clean copy sheets in the copy reproducing apparatus through the fuser to function as fuser cleaning sheets to remove the potentially contaminating imaging material, then feeding the same fuser cleaning sheets through the alternative duplex copying path back to and through the fuser a second time, with sheet inversion, so that they are inverted before feeding through the fuser the second time, and then purging these fuser cleaning sheets. The fuser cleaning cycle may be automatically initiated in response to sensing that a copy sheet was stopped in the fuser during the interruption of the operation of the reproducing apparatus. Preferably, the preset limited number of sheets used is four or less, yet, preferably, every area of the circumference of a fuser roll is contacted by at least one side of one fuser cleaning sheet a minimum of four times during this fuser cleaning cycle.

摘要： An apparatus and associated method move a web of “input continuous media” along at least one media path of a continuous printing device. The method prints markings on the input continuous media to create a web of “printed continuous media” using at least one printing engine of the continuous printing device. The method holds the printed continuous media on at least one output media roll of the continuous printing device after printing the markings on the input continuous media. The output media roll is supported by an output media roll support. The method also determines when the output media roll comprises a “completed printed roll” of printed continuous media and is ready to be cut by a cutter of the continuous printing device, and the output media roll is ready to be removed from the output media roll support. If the output media roll comprises a completed printed roll, the method prints at least two copies of an “index of items” that were printed on the completed printed roll using the printing engine as the last item printed on the completed printed roll before the cutter cuts the printed continuous media is supplied to the completed printed roll and before the completed printed roll is removed from the output media roll support. The index of items is visible from the exterior of the completed printed roll after the completed printed roll is removed from the output media roll support.

摘要： A method and apparatus for printing a plurality of documents juxtaposed for imposition on a print media sheet without gutters. The document images are rasterized and a band of single or multiple pixels is selected along the image margins and compared to determine if adjacent bands are within a predetermined tolerance value. If so, the images are juxtaposed without a gutter; and, if not, one image is rotated 180° and the comparison repeated. If the comparison still is not within a predetermined tolerance value, the juxtaposed images are imposed with a gutter.

摘要： A method of processing a print job in a document production environment includes receiving a job ticket having job ticket parameters, identifying a process plan template having processing instructions for processing the print job and performing a parameter value resolving process for each job ticket parameter. The resolving process may include identifying candidate values, identifying the source associated with each of the candidate values and determining whether a candidate value has a source having precedence. If a source has precedence, the corresponding candidate value may be selected as a resolved parameter value. A user may be presented with a representation of a set of the resolved parameter values and may be permitting to modify at least one of the resolved parameter values. A first portion of the print job may be processed using the identified process plan template, the resolved parameter values, and any user-modified parameter values.

摘要： A document can contain multiple print layers. Different layers can be combined to produce different document versions. In this manner, a document can have an English version and a Spanish version that share graphics layers but have different text layers. A document's different layers can be difficult to track and the difficulty can lead to errors in document proofing and production. A discrimination module can automatically classify layers as common, graphics, and text containing. The text containing layers can be further grouped by native language. The layer groups can then be automatically combined to produce the desired document version specifications that can be rendered as document versions.

Of the documents people receive, many, such as certain billing statements, also contain transaction promotions. Submitting a print job to a printer instructs it to produce a document by processing a document description. The document description can include a transaction promotion description. The transaction promotion can be printed at one of a number of predetermined quality levels by varying the document description, the print job, or the transaction promotion description. Knowledge of the intended recipient allows for the determination of a recipient quality level matching one of the predetermined quality levels. The document is then produced with a transaction promotion having a recipient based quality level.
