    Abstract: A video coding mechanism is disclosed. The mechanism includes receiving a bitstream comprising one or more sub-pictures partitioned from a picture and a sub-picture level indicator indicating resource requirements for decoding a current sub-picture. The bitstream is parsed to obtain the sub-picture level indicator and the current sub-picture. Resources are allocated to decode the current sub-picture based on the sub-picture level indicator. The current sub-picture is decoded to create a video sequence by employing the allocated resources. The video sequence is forwarded for display.

    Abstract: A video coding mechanism is disclosed. The mechanism includes receiving a sub-bitstream including: a sub-picture of a picture partitioned into a plurality of slices including a first slice, a parameter set associated with the picture and the sub-picture, and a slice header associated with the first slice. The parameter set is parsed to obtain an identifier and a length of a slice address of the first slice. A slice address for the first slice is determined from the slice header based on the identifier and the length of the slice address. The sub-bitstream is decoded to create a video sequence of sub-pictures including the first slice. The video sequence of sub-pictures is forwarded for display.

    Abstract: This application provides a media data processing method and apparatus. A media processing device receives a media stream. The media stream includes media data recorded at a plurality of viewpoints. The device obtains metadata information of the media stream. The metadata information includes viewpoint identification information of the viewpoints. The device displays media data of a first viewpoint based on the viewpoint identification information. The device also displays indications of other viewpoints when displaying the media data of the first viewpoint, so that a user of the device can switch to display media data of other viewpoints.

    Abstract: A video coding mechanism for viewpoint dependent video coding is disclosed. The mechanism includes receiving a spherical video signal stitched from multiple directional video streams. The spherical video signal is mapped into a plurality of sub-picture video signals each containing a sequence of sub-pictures. The plurality of sub-picture video signals, are encoded as a plurality of sub-picture bitstreams, such that, when decoded at a decoder, a value of each sample in each sub-picture is identical to a value of a corresponding sample in a decoded entire picture composed from the sub-pictures. The plurality of sub-picture bitstreams are composed into a plurality of sub-picture tracks with an indication that the sub-picture tracks are conforming to a particular video profile. The sub-picture bitstreams are transmitted toward a decoder to support decoding and displaying virtual reality video viewport.

The method includes receiving a picture unit (PU) including zero or one picture header (PH) network abstraction layer (NAL) unit and only one coded picture; and decoding the only one coded picture from the PU to obtain a decoded picture. A corresponding method of encoding is also provided. The method includes generating a PU including zero or one PH NAL units and only one coded picture; encoding the PU into a video bitstream; and storing the video bitstream for communication toward a video decoder.
