Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for efficiently identifying spatial parameters for receiving control information in an initial coreset. In one example, a user equipment (UE) may receive a TCI state indicating reference signals quasi co-located with a control information transmission in a coreset, and the UE may also identify a quasi co-location (QCL) assumption in a random-access procedure indicating that a synchronization signal block (SSB) is quasi co-located with the control information transmission in the coreset. In this example, the UE may identify spatial parameters for monitoring the coreset for the control information transmission in accordance with the TCI state or the QCL assumption based on the timing of the indicated TCI state and the QCL assumption.

One method may include receiving, by a user equipment (UE) in a downlink shared data channel, a beam switch command instructing the UE to switch from a first uplink control beam to a second uplink control beam. The UE may select an uplink control beam to transmit acknowledgment feedback based on whether decoding the beam switch command is successful, and transmit, in an uplink control channel via the selected uplink control beam, the acknowledgment feedback indicating whether decoding the beam switch command was successful.

A wireless device may identify a characteristic of a first beam associated with a first antenna array, determine a second beam associated with a second antenna array as a quasi-co-located beam with respect to the first beam based on the characteristic, and communicate on the first and second beams based on the determining. A base station may identify a user equipment (UE) searching for a connection with a secondary cell on a second frequency band, wherein the UE is served by the base station on a first frequency band and transmit an indicator to the UE to inform the UE regarding selection of a particular beam for measuring a reference signal from the secondary cell.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A base station may identify time and frequency resources for a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) to be transmitted to a user equipment (UE) in a first transmission time interval (TTI). The base station may transmit configuration information for a control channel search space set in a second TTI. The second TTI may precede the first TTI. The configuration information may include an indication of an absence of a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) transmission to send in the control channel search space set indicating the identified time and frequency resources for the PDSCH, and a set of time and frequency resources for the control channel search space set. The UE may receive the configuration information and identify the time and frequency resources allocated for the PDSCH in the second TTI, and receive the PDSCH transmission in the second TTI.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A base station may configure a first sub-band and a second sub-band of a system bandwidth for communication with a user equipment (UE). The base station may determine a spatial quasi co-location (QCL) relationship between the first sub-band and the second sub-band and may transmit signaling to the UE that indicates the determined spatial QCL relationship. Upon receiving the signaling, the UE may derive, based on the indicated spatial QCL relationship, spatial parameters (e.g., beam width, pointing angle, etc.) for communication with the base station via the second sub-band. The spatial parameters may be derived based on spatial parameters used for reception of a downlink transmission from the base station via the first sub-band. Subsequently, the UE may communicate with the base station via the second sub-band using the derived spatial parameters.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described techniques provide for the identification of a sequence of beamforming parameters that are used for communications between a user equipment (UE) and a base station using a sequence of transmission beams. A UE may measure received reference signals that are transmitted in a series of downlink transmission beams from a base station, and report measurement parameters associated with the downlink transmission beams to the base station as part of a beam tracking and beam refinement procedure. The base station may provide transmission configuration indicator (TCI) states that are associated with each transmission beam. The TCI states may be recorded over a course of a periodic movement of the UE, and may be used deterministically to identify beamforming parameters for transmission and reception of a subsequent series of downlink transmission beams when the UE makes a subsequent same periodic movement.

In some aspects, a device may determine a shared demodulation reference signal (DMRS) configuration for a plurality of resource blocks of a channel, wherein a frequency domain associated with the plurality of resource blocks overlaps for a control resource of the channel and a data resource of the channel, and wherein the plurality of resource blocks are associated with a shared precoding scheme. The device may transmit a DMRS based at least in part on determining the shared DMRS configuration to enable a receiver to receive the plurality of resource blocks of the channel. The wireless device may identify a reference signal identifier that is associated with the second transmit beam. The wireless device may update, based at least in part on the identifying, a channel state information (CSI) resource setting to include the reference signal identifier, wherein the CSI resource setting is associated with the active transmit beam.
