To this end, when input image data quantized to one of multivalued levels of gradation is allocated to a dot arrangement of M×N, a matrix of A×B created by combining a plurality of different dot arrangements each displaying the same level of gradation of the input image data in a raster direction and in a column direction is used as a minimum unit, and the dot arrangement of this matrix is allocated to the input image data.

    摘要: To achieve high-quality printing by controlling an ink-travelling direction by an electrostatic force so that the ink can be accurately applied on a printing medium, the ink is landed on a desired position of the printing medium effectively without disturbing the ink ejection, independent of a difference in the thickness of the printing medium. An electric field between a printing head and the printing medium is generated by applying a voltage to a platen of conductive material positioned immediately below the printing medium. At this point, the voltage applied to the platen is adjusted so that the electric field of a preferable intensity can be generated on a face of the printing head where ejection openings are formed irrespective of the thickness of the printing medium.

    摘要: To achieve high-quality printing by controlling an ink-traveling direction by an electrostatic force so that the ink can be accurately applied on a printing medium, the ink ejected to areas outside edges of the printing medium is prevented from being attracted to the end portions in margin-less printing. This configuration includes: a platen, made of a conductive material, positioned immediately below the printing medium; an absorber positioned at a side of the edge; and a mesh conductive member disposed on the absorber. A first voltage is applied to the platen, causing polarization in the printing medium, and a second voltage higher than the first voltage is applied to the conductive member. Thereby, ink ejected outside the edges in the margin-less printing, travels straight-forwardly toward the conductive member without being attracted to the end portions, and is absorbed into the absorber via the conductive member.

    摘要: When thinning processing is performed to reduce the occurrence of black stripe caused by an overlap between scanning areas that is designed to prevent an end deviation from causing a white stripe, dots printed in a predetermined region by not only an ejection opening array subjected to the thinning processing but also other ejection opening arrays are counted so as to obtain their respective printing duties. Then, a color gamut is obtained based on the printing duties of the respective ejection opening arrays. Then, a thinning rate of the ejection opening array subjected to thinning processing is obtained by referring to a table corresponding to the color gamut, based on the printing duties of the respective ejection opening arrays obtained as above, and the thinning processing is performed. Accordingly, thinning processing can be performed which accurately reflects an amount of actual end deviation.

Between the nozzle rows for these two colors, at least two nozzle rows for other colors are arranged so that the nozzle rows for the two colors have a large inter-nozzle-row distance. The resulting print head is used for printing. If cyan, light cyan, magenta, light magenta, yellow, and black are used as ink colors, the light cyan, black, yellow, and light magenta inks are arranged between the cyan and magenta inks, having a great hue difference.
