Abstract: A touch input device and a method for measuring a capacitance of the touch input device may be provided. The touch input device includes: a display panel; a pressure sensor which is disposed under the display panel; a reference potential layer which is disposed apart from the pressure sensor; and a controller which receives an output voltage from the pressure sensor and calculates a first capacitance value, and calculates a second capacitance value by removing a parasitic capacitance value from the first capacitance value. The controller receives the output voltage from the pressure sensor in a state where the reference potential layer is floating, and calculates the parasitic capacitance value.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a touch input device includes a touch screen and is configured to perform mutually different operations with respect to a first touch and a second touch on the touch screen. The first touch is maintained during a time period equal to or greater than a first time period, wherein the first touch is maintained at a pressure less than a first pressure within the first time period. The second touch has a time interval having a pressure greater than the first pressure within the first time period. The first pressure is controlled and set by an input to the touch screen.

Abstract: A touch input device may be provided that includes a cover layer including a display area and an input area; a display panel which is disposed under the display area; and a pressure sensing unit which is disposed under the display panel and is disposed at a position adjacent to the input area. The pressure sensing unit includes a pressure sensor. When a pressure is applied to the cover layer, the cover layer and the display panel are bent. Electrical characteristics of the pressure sensor change due to the bending of the cover layer and the display panel. When the pressure is applied to the input area, a magnitude of the pressure applied to the input area is detected by the electrical characteristics of the pressure sensor.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a control method for a touch sensor panel is disclosed. The method includes obtaining touch information on the touch sensor panel from which an electrical signal outputted is changed according to a touch, and detecting at least one valid touch from the touch information. It is determined that a valid touch of the at least one valid touch is included in a palm touch group by (a) detecting a palm touch, which meets a palm touch condition, among the at least one valid touch, and (b) determining that the detected palm touch and the valid touch occur within a predetermined time period. A display unit displays an input corresponding to each of the at least one valid touch other than the valid touch included in the palm touch group.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a touch input device capable of detecting a pressure and a position of a touch on a touch surface is disclosed. The touch input device includes a cover layer of glass, a display panel, and a touch sensor panel fully laminated on the display panel. The device further includes a substrate spaced apart from the display panel and separating the display panel from a circuit board and a battery for operation of the touch input device, and a pressure electrode disposed between the display panel and the substrate. Drive electrodes are formed on one side of an insulation layer, and receiving electrodes are formed on the other side of the insulation layer. Further, a distance between the substrate and the display panel is maintained by a double adhesive tape formed on edge portions of the substrate and the display panel when no pressure is applied.

An electrical characteristic detected at the electrode is changed by the bending of the display panel.
