Abstract: An electronic device with improved methods and interfaces for messaging displays a messaging user interface that includes a conversation transcript of a messaging session between a user of the electronic device and at least one other user. A first message that includes foreign language text is received from a remote device that corresponds to another user included in the messaging session. In response to receiving the first message, the electronic device displays the first message in the conversation transcript. In response to detecting a first input at a location that corresponds to the foreign language text in the first message: in accordance with a determination that the first input meets translation criteria, the electronic device performs a foreign-language-text-translation action; and in accordance with a determination that the first input does not meet the translation criteria, the electronic device forgoes performance of the foreign-language-text-translation action.

Abstract: A value of a display property of an affordance changes based a value of the same display property of a portion of content over which the affordance is displayed. The value of the display property of the affordance is constrained to vary within a second value range smaller than a first value range over which the value of the display property of the content is permitted to vary. If the change in appearance of the content meets range-switching criteria, the value of the display property of the affordance is changed within a third value range. The third value range is different from the second value range and is smaller than the first value range. If the change in appearance of the content does not meet the range-switching criteria, the value of the display property of the affordance is changed within the second value range.

Abstract: Reduced-size user interfaces for providing weather information are disclosed. At an electronic device with a touch-sensitive display, indications of a location and a temperature at the location may be displayed. In some examples, a user may provide input through a touch on the touch-sensitive display and/or through a rotation of a rotatable input mechanism to display additional weather information, such as weather information for another location, another temperature, another time, and so forth. In some examples, the device may obtain data representing an upcoming activity, determine whether the activity is to begin within a threshold amount of time, and display weather information based on the upcoming activity. In some examples, the device may display an affordance at a position to indicate the time of day for which a weather condition is provided.

Abstract: An electronic device with a display and a touch-sensitive surface displays a first user interface of a first application. The device detects a first input by a first contact on the touch-sensitive surface that meets navigation-gesture criteria requiring that the first input includes a movement of the first contact across the touch-sensitive surface that crosses a boundary of a predefined edge region of the touch-sensitive surface in order for the navigation-gesture criteria to be met. In response, the device: in accordance with a determination that the first application is not protected, ceases to display the first user interface of the first application and displays a respective other user interface on the display; and in accordance with a determination that the first application is protected, maintains display of the first user interface of the first application without displaying the respective other user interface.
