Abstract: A mobility load balancing method and apparatus are disclosed. The method includes: obtaining first network status information of a first network device; obtaining information indicating a network status of a second network device; obtaining a to-be-effective first mobility load balancing MLB policy based on the first network status information and the information indicating a network status of the second network device; and sending the first MLB policy to the second network device. The first MLB policy includes at least one of the following content: a configuration parameter used to adjust a load of the first network device and time information corresponding to the configuration parameter, a configuration parameter used to adjust a load of the second network device and time information corresponding to the configuration parameter, or reliability information of the first MLB policy.

Abstract: A method for multicast communication, a first network device, and a second network device. The method includes: a first network device sends first information to a second network device, where the first information indicates an association relationship between multicast service information and a first terminal device; the first network device receives second information from the second network device; the first network device generates a configuration message based on the second information, where the configuration message indicates an association relationship between the multicast service information and a first logical channel, and the first logical channel is a logical channel of the first terminal device; and the first network device sends the configuration message to the first terminal device.

Abstract: This application discloses a handover method and apparatus. During handover, a source RAN node includes, in a handover message, an indication indicating whether a PDU session supports network slice re-mapping and/or an indication indicating whether the PDU session supports network slice fallback. A target RAN node performs admission control based on the indication, and notifies the source RAN node of an identifier of a network slice to which the PDU session is re-mapped or an indication indicating whether the PDU session falls back to a default network slice. The source RAN node forwards the notification to a terminal device. This reduces signaling overheads caused during handover interaction.

Abstract: Embodiments of this application provide example communication methods and apparatuses. One example method includes receiving, by a first network device, a first request message and uplink data from a terminal, where the first request message is for requesting to resume a suspended radio resource control (RRC) connection. The first network device can then send a second request message to a second network device based on the first request message and the uplink data, where the second network device is a network device previously serving the terminal, and the second request message includes information about the uplink data, where the second request message is for requesting the second network device to release a first data channel between the second network device and a core network device, or the second request message is for requesting the second network device to send a context of the terminal to the first network device.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to radio resource control (RRC) reestablishment methods and apparatuses. In one example method, a terminal device selects a target cell, where the target cell supports an expected network slice. The terminal device sends an RRC reestablishment request message by using the target cell. The expected network slice may include a network slice that the terminal device expects to access, or a network slice corresponding to a PDU session established by the terminal device by using a last serving access network device of the terminal device. The terminal device may select the target cell within a preset time period. For example, the terminal device starts a first timer when the terminal device starts selecting the target cell, and selects the target cell during running of the first timer. The first timer may be specific to one or more network slices or all network slices.

Abstract: A context management method and an apparatus are provided. The method includes: When a distributed unit DU of a network side device receives a first message from a centralized unit CU of the network side device, the distributed unit DU of the network side device may store a context of the terminal side device in an inactive state. The first message includes a second message, and the second message is used to indicate the terminal side device to enter the inactive (inactive) state and release a connection to the network side device.

Abstract: This application provides a communication method and apparatus. The method includes: A terminal device receives indication information from a master node, where the indication information indicates that a key used for signaling transmission performed between the terminal device and a first secondary node by using a second SRB is a first key, the first key is a key used for signaling transmission performed between the terminal device and the master node by using a first SRB, and the first secondary node and the master node share one CU. In a scenario in which the master node and a secondary node share one CU, the terminal device determines that a key for signaling transmission performed between the terminal device and the secondary node is the same as a key for signaling transmission performed between the terminal device and the master node, which avoids complexity.

Abstract: Example measurement methods and apparatus are described. One example method includes obtaining a timer by a terminal device. The terminal device obtains two or more measurement configurations, where each of two or more measurement configurations includes a validity area and a measurement frequency corresponding to the validity area, and the validity area includes one or more cells. The terminal device measures, based on the measurement configuration, a measurement frequency corresponding to a validity area that matches a cell on which the terminal device camps, where the terminal device is in an idle state or in an inactive state, and the timer is not stopped and has not expired.

Abstract: This application provides a communication method and apparatus. The communication method includes: receiving measurement configuration information from a network device; determining whether a measurement task requires a measurement gap; and if the measurement task does not require the measurement gap, sending first measurement gap requirement information indicating that the measurement gap is not required to the network device, where the first measurement gap requirement information is used to deactivate or release configured measurement gap configuration information; and/or if the measurement task requires the measurement gap, sending second measurement gap requirement information indicating that the measurement gap is required to the network device, where the second measurement gap requirement information is used to activate or validate measurement gap configuration information corresponding to the second measurement gap requirement information. A measurement gap configuration status is determined based on measurement gap requirement information reported by a terminal device.
