    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may perform channel state information measurements on reference signal transmissions from a base station. The UE may identify a set of cross layer coefficients associated with a set of spatial layers based on the channel state information measurements. The UE may additionally identify a set of precoding coefficients associated with a spatial layer from the set of spatial layers. In some implementations, the set of precoding coefficients may be based on the set of cross layer coefficients. In some examples, the UE may transmit the set of cross layer coefficients and the set of precoding coefficients to the base station.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, a user equipment (UE) may report basis subset selection for a set of beams, where the basis vectors are used for frequency domain compression. To reduce reporting overhead, the UE may transmit two reports indicating the basis vectors. The first report may include first information for the basis vectors and is of a known payload size to both the UE and a base station, while the second report may include second information for the basis vectors and may have a payload size dependent on the first information. The base station may decode the first report and may use the decoded first information to decode the second report. Based on the first and second information, the base station may determine the reported set of basis vectors to use for frequency domain compression and may determine non-zero precoding coefficients.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for configuring contention-free uplink resources and contention-based uplink resources as preconfigured uplink resources (PUR) available for a user equipment (UE) to transmit one or more uplink transmissions without a specific allocation for the uplink transmission from a base station. Each of two or more UEs may be configured with separate portions of contention-free PUR that each UE may use to transmit a relatively small first uplink communication that provides an indication that the UE will transmit a relatively larger second uplink communication using contention-based PUR. The UE may transmit a buffer status report (B SR) using the contention-free PUR. The first communication may provide an indication of one or more physical layer parameters associated with the second uplink communication. The UE may transmit the second uplink communication using the indicated one or more physical layer parameters via the contention-based uplink resource.
