Abstract:
A sheet feeding scanner has its contact image sensor hanging pivotally on two side walls and is capable of turning with respect to the axis of the pivots. The contact image sensor presses against a driving roller by gravity and/or by a spring. A sheet of paper is sandwiched between the contact image sensor and the roller. The contact image sensor can be disengaged from the roller by an external release rod. The paper is removed when the release rod is actuated or by pulling the paper hard.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses a new CIS information reading apparatus which employs rolling elements interposed between a sheet table and a CIS module for allowing the CIS module to roll over the bottom surface of the sheet table in linear direction. The CIS module is mounted on a pair of supports which uplift the CIS module in a manner that the CIS module presses tightly on the rolling elements to roll over the bottom surface of the sheet table. The pair of supports move along a pair of U grooves for guiding the CIS module along the sheet table. Since the rolling elements and the sheet table remain point or line contacts, so the friction between the CIS module and the sheet table will be very small. This helps to improve the picture duality of the images generated by the CIS module.
Abstract:
A sheet conveying apparatus and an original reading apparatus according to the present invention can reduce a load of a drive system for rotating a convey rotary member and can be made compact. The apparatus includes an original convey roller rotatably supported by a frame, and a contact sensor holder rockably held by a contact sensor rotation shaft regulated in a thickness-wise direction of an original by a contact sensor holder rotation shaft holding portion of the frame and adapted to hold a second contact sensor in a confronting relation to the original convey roller. The second contact sensor is urged against the original convey roller by an urging spring.
Abstract:
There is provided an image scanner in which no shock is applied to a carrier moving an image sensor when the carrier is moved between an automatic document feeder and a contact glass on which an original document is placed. The image sensor is pressed against the contact glass by a spring. A plurality of rollers are provided between the image sensor and the contact glass so that the image sensor is pressed against the contact glass via the rollers. The rollers are separated from the contact glass by a separating member when the image sensor passes an area between the contact glass and the automatic document feeder. A housing of the image scanner is made of a plastic.

Abstract:
An image reading apparatus includes: a contact glass provided at an upper surface of a main body of the apparatus to set a manuscript thereon, an image sensor being positioned below the contact glass and having a reading surface on contact glass side for reading an image from the manuscript on the contact glass, a carriage supporting the image sensor accommodated in a sensor container formed to have a recess open to the contact glass side, a rail member slidably supporting the carriage, and a biasing member biasing the image sensor to the contact glass side via a biased portion adjacent to the reading surface of the image sensor. An upper end of the biasing member is positioned below the contact glass and above the lower surface of the image sensor.

An image reading apparatus includes: a contact glass setting a manuscript thereon; an image sensor extending in a first direction and having a reading surface which faces the contact glass for reading an image from the manuscript on the contact glass; a rail member extending inside the apparatus main body in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction; a carriage having a sensor container to contain the image sensor, a taper end portion formed in an end portion in the first direction to become smaller in height toward the end side, and an opening formed in the bottom of the sensor container on the taper end portion side; a biased portion adjacent to the reading surface of the image sensor in the second direction; and a biasing member biasing the image sensor toward the contact glass via the biased portion.
Abstract:
A detection device includes: an imaging unit that forms an image of an incident beam on an image detection unit; an emission unit that includes a guided portion that is guided to a guiding portion provided at the imaging unit and guiding an attachment-detachment operation of the guided portion, a positioned portion that is positioned in a positioning portion provided at the imaging unit, and an emission member that emits a beam toward a direction of a transportation path such that a beam reflected from the medium is incident to the imaging unit; and a setting unit that includes a positioned portion that is positioned in a positioning portion provided at the emission unit when a drawing unit is pressure-inserted into the image forming apparatus and a setting surface that sets a position on the medium at which the beam is reflected.
