Abstract: At a UE configured with an idle-mode configuration for using a PUR, determining that data not associated with the PUR is to be transmitted or received via an RRC connection. The UE performs an initial access to a network for the radio resource control connection. The UE transitions from RRC idle mode to RRC connected mode. The UE performs one of suspending the idle-mode configuration or maintaining the idle-mode configuration, for at least a duration of the RRC connected mode. A base station received the initial access, determines the UE is configured with the idle-mode configuration for using a PUR and transitions the UE from RRC idle mode to RRC connected mode. The base station performs communication between the base station and the UE to perform action(s) to modify one or both of the idle-mode configuration or an RRC connection corresponding to the transition into the RRC connected mode.

Abstract: Various communication systems may benefit from improved random access procedures. For example, it may be helpful to improve random access procedure when a network entity does not have any downlink data to transmit. A method, according to certain embodiments, may include receiving at a network entity from a user equipment a short contention resolution identifier. The method may also include transmitting from the network entity to the user equipment downlink control information comprising at least the short contention resolution identifier on a physical downlink control channel.

Abstract: Systems, methods, apparatuses, and computer program products for a modified multi-slot random access channel (RACH) transmission, such as an extended coverage RACH (EC-RACH) transmission, are provided. One method includes transmitting, by a mobile station associated with a network, a dual slot hybrid random access channel including a long burst followed by one access burst or including one access burst followed by one long burst. Two consecutive time slots may be used for the random access channel transmission.
