    Abstract: Provided is a system and method which trains a model based on a horizon-wise cost function which accounts for error across a horizon rather than just a next point in time thereby improving the accuracy of the trained model in the long term. In one example, the method may include storing time-series data, executing a training iteration for a machine learning model based on one or more parameter values, determining error values between the predicted values output by the machine learning model and actual values of the time-series data for a plurality of intervals included in a horizon of the time-series data, generating a total error value for the horizon based on the determined error values for the intervals, and storing the generated total error value for the horizon. The method also enables a user to dynamically adjust a weight for each interval of the horizon.

    Abstract: The present disclosure involves systems, software, and computer implemented methods for measuring successful interactions with an insight tool. One example method includes receiving a request for insights for a data point of a data visualization. Insights for the data point are identified and presented in an insights interface in a user session. User interactions with the insights interface are tracked during the user session. A determination is made that the user session has completed. At least one insights success rule is identified for determining whether user sessions with the insights interface are successful. The one or more insights success rules are evaluated to determine whether the user session was successful. In response to determining that the user session was successful, a measure of success for the user session is recorded. In response to determining that the user session was unsuccessful, a measure of failure is recorded for the user session.

    Abstract: Point-of-Interest (POI) data is stored according to a first, POI library as a flat file in a database. An engine is positioned between the POI library and an interface. The interface is configured to interact with data structured in a hierarchical manner and stored according to a second library (e.g., a modeling interface utilizing folders). The engine functions to wrap a POI object taken from a table of the POI library, into an augmented object recognized and handled by the second library of the (hierarchical) interface. To accomplish this, the engine augments the POI table with an additional column that is to be indexed by the second library. In this manner, embodiments may impart additional, hierarchy-based functionality to existing POI handling schemes. Particular embodiments may impart enhanced security (e.g., permissions at the data object-level) to existing POI schemes that implement permissions only at the POI-level and/or at the application-level.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for improving recommendation to users in data intelligence systems. In one aspect, a method includes the actions of receiving a current observation describing an interaction of a user with a data intelligence system; identifying a current user interest based on the current observation, wherein past observations of the user with the data intelligence system are clustered to form user interests in a Markov model; using the Markov model and based on the current user interest, determining a next user interest from the user interests; extracting a one past observation from the determined next user interest based on a selection criterion and a threshold, wherein the selection criterion is based on how closely the at least one past observation matches the current observation; and sending a recommendation to the user based on the past observation.
