Abstract: An electronic device includes a display layer including a pixel within an active region and a sensor, a sensor layer, a display driving circuit, a sensor driving circuit, and a main driving circuit to operate in a first mode. In the first mode, the display driving circuit emits a first light through a light emitting element of the pixel disposed in a first region of the active region, the display driving circuit receives a second light reflected based on the first light, through a sensing element of the sensor disposed in the first region and a second region surrounding the first region, and the main driving circuit determines whether the display layer and the sensor layer are placed in a pocket of a user, based on an amount of the second light.
