    摘要: A supporting device for a strainer belt in a paper making apparatus of the type including a plurality of wear strips which, in use, are disposed transversely to the strainer belt, each of the strips having a wear surface on which the belt is supported as it passes over them. Each of the wear strips is adapted to be clamped on a supporting element between a leaf spring and a retaining plate, which are secured to the supporting element, said strip having a bearing surface which rests on the bearing surface of the support element. The wear strip has a symmetrical shape so that the wear surface and bearing surface may be disposed interchangeably either to face the strainer belt or to face the bearing surface of the support element.

    摘要: The web drying section of a paper machine has a plurality of drying cylinders; an air permeable belt passes around one cylinder and the web to be dried passes outside the belt around the one cylinder; gussets defined in the region of initial engagement and final disengagement of the feeder belt with the one cylinder; the entrance side gusset includes an air lock to eliminate the boundary layers of air on the feeder belt and the drying cylinder and to minimize return of ambient air into the entrance side gusset, thereby to hold the web to the belt and drying cylinder; the exit side gusset includes an air lock adapted to permit the boundary layers of air to leave the exit side gusset and also to minimize return of ambient air into the exit side gusset; features of the air locks are disclosed; additional suction means improve the vacuum in the air lock gussets.

    摘要: A heated dryer drum consisting of a peripherally closed cylindrical shell with dryer heads engaging the shell at opposite ends thereof and each comprising a central bearing journal for rotatably supporting the drum. Included inside the drum is at least one tie rod extending between and connected to the dryer heads near the centers thereof. The dryer heads are axially resilient and preloading of the tie rod, or tie rods, preloads the dryer shell. The dryer heads advantageously taper in thickness from a thicker hub portion to a thinner peripheral portion, with the peripheral portion engaging opposite ends of the dryer shell. The tie rod, or tie rods, may be heated during installation so that, upon cooling, a desired preload will be imparted to the dryer shell. Furthermore, spring means can be incorporated in the tie rod, or tie rods, for controlling the preload on the dryer shell. Still further, measuring means may be incorporated in the tie rod, or tie rods, so that the degree of preload thereon can readily be observed.
