Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein are directed to an adapter configured to accept one or more narrow width connectors. Each adapter has a first and second end that can accept a first or second connector. A first connector has a widthwise recess on the connector housing accepting protrusions on a removable anchor device that retains the connector in a port; and the adapter device comprising one or more ports without an anchor; said port secures a second connector type comprising a latch release mechanism; and the adapter device ports are opposite one another; wherein the opposite ports can accept a first connector and a second connector; wherein the first connector release mechanism and differs from the second connector release mechanism.

Abstract: Reversible polarity fiber optic connectors are provided having housings at least partially surrounding first and second optical ferrules with walls above and beneath the ferrules. Positioning removable elements such as latches, removable arms, or push-pull tabs on the first wall above the ferrules yields fiber optic connectors with a first polarity type, and positioning the removable elements on the second wall beneath the ferrules yields fiber optic connectors with a second, opposite polarity type. Various engagement mechanisms are provided on either the connector housing walls or on the removable elements, or both, to assist in affixing the removable element to the connector housing.

Abstract: Connector assemblies are described herein. For example, a connector assembly including: a housing configured to accept a first ferrule and a second ferrule. The connector assembly may also have a latch component that is removably connected to the housing, wherein the latch component is configured to rotate around the housing. The latch component may have a first locking element configured to engage a second locking element to prevent rotation of the latch component in at least one of a first polarity position to a second polarity position. The connector may further more include a push-pull tab removably connected to the housing and configured to move vertically along the housing when a biasing force is applied in at least one of a forward direction and a rearward direction. Accordingly, the push-pull tab can compress the latch component when moving vertically along the housing.

Abstract: Connector assemblies having an adjustable polarity are described. For example, at least two ferrules may be arranged in a housing of the connector assembly within independent frame plugs in a certain polarity. A top portion of the housing may be removed to allow access to the frame plugs. Accordingly, an installer may open the housing, switch the polarity of the ferrules, and then re-couple the top portion to the housing. In another example, the connector assembly may include a latch that may rotate about the connector assembly from a first polarity position to a second polarity position. The connector assembly may include a compression element that may facilitate the rotation of the latch when the compression element is compressed. In this manner, the latch may be rotated to a different polarity position to allow the connector assembly to be connected to an adapter using a different polarity.
