    Abstract: Various embodiments for image denoising using a convolutional neural network (CCN) are described. A system may include at least one computing device and program instructions stored in memory and executable in the at least one computing device that, when executed, direct the at least one computing device to implement a genetic algorithm (GA) routine that identifies and optimizes a plurality of hyperparameters for use in denoising an image using the convolutional neural network. An image may be denoised using the convolutional neural network, where the image is denoised using the hyperparameters identified and optimized in the genetic algorithm routine.

    Abstract: A protective ankle brace has at least one pocket that houses at least one pouch, and at least one strap, and covers both sides of an ankle of a foot placed within the ankle brace. The pouch contain a dilatant fluid that is flexible to allow normal motion for walking and running but on a rapid movement or one with a high force, the dilatant resists movement. The at least one strap covers the one or two pockets to retain the pouch or pouches. The strap restricts the maximum eversion and inversion of the ankle brace when a force is applied and further protects the ankle within the ankle brace. The strap can be a bladder containing a dilatant fluid.

    Abstract: Methods, computer program products, and corresponding devices are provided for measuring the bi-directional reflectance distribution function (BRDF) of an object. An object is positioned relative to a BRDF measurement device. The BRDF measurement device comprises a turntable coupled to a background and a light source, the turntable configured to have the object positioned thereon; and a plurality of spectrographs configured such that each of the plurality of the spectrographs captures a reflectance spectra associated with the object from a different elevation angle relative to the object. A set of spectra data is captured by illuminating the object with the light source; and with each spectrograph, capturing a reflectance spectra associated with the object. The turntable is rotated such that an azimuthal angle between the object and the light source is changed. The capturing and rotating steps are repeated for a predetermined set of azimuthal angles.

In one example, an apparatus can include at least one intellectual property (IP) core, a centralized reconfigurable security policy engine (RSPE) and at least one security wrapper. The RSPE implements actionable constraint based on a security policy and at least one event frame. A security wrapper is associated with an IP core. The security wrapper is configured to communicate an event frame to the RSPE in response to an event.

    Abstract: A flexible catheter is inserted into the esophagus to cool or warm the esophagus, particularly during certain procedures which can tend to change the temperature in the area of the esophagus. The catheter is inserted through the mouth and throat to a position, for example, proximate the heart, but within the esophagus. A thermally conductive gel is injected into the esophagus where it is immobilized by the one or more balloons. A coolant is pumped through a coolant tube affixed to the catheter, where it exchanges heat with the conductive gel.
