Abstract:
An apparatus and method for making individual flexible web products whereby a web material is tucked outwardly from the surface of a product drum by fixed projections, severed and sealed, and provided to one or more transfer points. The products are there transferred to open or more transfer drums with corresponding indentations, which deliver the products to packing devices. An alternative embodiment provides multiple delivery points by using lateral-shifting transfer drums. The apparatus and method provides a simple means to vary and control flexible product width without introducing a multiplicity of moving parts, and discloses means to enhance separation of individual products during transfer while increasing overall production rates.
Abstract:
A high speed product delivery system is provided which delivers individual flexible web products from a product drum to a plurality of transfer drums. The transfer drums, in turn, deliver products to further transfer drums or to packaging devices. The system permits increases in the production rate of the products without increasing the demand on the packaging devices.
Abstract:
A control system compensates for temperature dependent propellant burning characteristics by adjusting the chamber volume available to the propellant in an ammunition round. The control system includes a control tube housing, a piston assembly slidably mounted relative to the housing for movement through a drive stroke and being drivingly coupled to a trailing end of the projectile, and components responsive to the temperature of the round for adjusting the length of the drive stroke of the piston assembly in proportion to the temperature and thereby adjusting the position of the projectile and volume of the chamber in proportion to the temperature of the round.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an improved apparatus and method for the sequential handling of a series of flexible products which enables operation of the orbital packing fingers at lower speeds to reduce inertial loading and yet maintain a high output rate. In preferred embodiments of the invention, the packing fingers are operated at a rate of 1/X times the rate that flexible products are provided. Where X is the number of delivery points per lane of flexible products provided. The orbital packing fingers themselves are constructed to extend across substantially the entire width of the bags as they are stripped from a transfer drum and to decelerate the bags as they are stacked against a backstop.
Abstract:
Gloss retention and stain resistance are improved in a no-wax UV cured flooring wear surface by reacting a phthalate polyester polyol and a long chain hydroxy acrylate with an aromatic or cycloalkyl diisocyanate to form an oligomer which is employed as a major ingredient of the UV curable coating composition used to produce the wear surface.
Abstract:
A bag making machine and method for the continuous production of bags from a folded web of thermoplastic material is provided. The apparatus includes a capability for making bags of differing widths as well as making bags having consistent widths for the particular size of bag selected. The apparatus includes a rotatable drum having a plurality of sever and seal stations for forming individual positioned about the outer periphery of the drum. A source of a continuous folded web of thermoplastic material is also provided, and continuously fed onto the surface of the drum. Means positioned between adjacent sever and seal stations tuck the web of material inwardly from the periphery of the drum. To prevent the occurrence of stretching forces which may adversely affect the web and the resulting width of the bags during processing, a film tension compensation means is provided for maintaining a constant path length for the web of material between the web source and the sever and seal stations. This results in the maintenance of a substantially constant tension on the web.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a transfer device for receiving a series of flexible products from a single path and delivering the flexible products to a plurality of paths where they can be separately stacked and packaged. The device includes a vacuum transfer drum and apparatus for rotating the drum. The transfer device also includes a rotating product drum for supplying flexible products such as plastic bags in a single row along a path to the drum. Further, the transfer device includes apparatus on the drum for securing the leading edges of the flexible products to the surface of the drum, for shifting selected flexible products transversely from the path as the drum rotates, and for securing the trailing edges of the selected flexible products during the shifting thereof. This transverse shifting of selected flexible products permits delivery by the transfer drum along a plurality of paths.

Abstract:
An article transport arrangement for conveying articles along a pair of generally parallel transport paths from a first location to a second location includes a pair of vacuum belt conveyors which extend between the first and second locations, generally above the transport paths. A vacuum arrangement for applying a suction force to the articles in excess of that applied to the articles by the vacuum belt conveyors is positioned opposite the vacuum belt conveyors so as to ingest articles through a pair of collection openings.
