    Abstract: A wireless tracking device and methods detect movement of a control of equipment, determines a setting of the equipment based on a sensed position of the control, and generates an alert when the control is moved unexpectedly. The wireless tracking device may include an adhesive surface that, in use, adheres the tracking device to the equipment, a sensor that senses a position of the control, a memory storing the position and a setting module having non-transitory computer-readable instructions, and a processor coupled to the sensor and the memory and configured to execute the setting module to analyze the position to determine the setting of the control. The wireless tracking device may implement a lockout/tagout protocol and may have many form factors including an adhesive tape, a belt, a single-use security tag, a cable lock, a padlock, a cable, a stamp and a valve sensor.

    Abstract: A wireless tracking system leverages client devices in an environment to collaboratively locate assets and track states of assets in the environment. Tracking devices associated with assets and infrastructure nodes may experience low batteries or environment stressors that cause them to be unable to communicate with a cloud of the wireless tracking system. A system controller of the wireless tracking system assigns one or more client devices in the environment to locate the asset or tracking device. Responsive to a client device locating the asset or tracking device, the client device receives information describing a current state of the asset or tracking device and transmits the information to the cloud. Based on the information, the tracking device may be recovered for recharging or refurbishing.

    Abstract: A wireless sensing system uses heartbeat signals to monitor locations and usage information for assets. Heartbeat signals are signals transmitted periodically. However, in fast-paced environments, assets may move too quickly for heartbeat signals to provide useful information. In these and other scenarios, the wireless sensing system receives a first set of data describing signal strength between a tape node associated with an asset and a first node associated with a first portion of an area and a second set of data describing signal strength between the tape node associated with the asset and a second node associated with a second portion of the area. Based on relative signal strengths described by the received data, the wireless sensing system determines a path of the tape node associated with the asset.

    Abstract: A method and system for replacing a first wireless node in an IoT system includes determining, by the first wireless node, that the first wireless node needs imminent replacement. The determination may be made, for example, based on a battery of the first wireless node being below a threshold level. The first wireless node initiates a discovery protocol for a second wireless node installed in proximity to the first wireless node, the second wireless node installed to replace the first wireless node. Upon discovery of the second wireless node, the first wireless node transmits a configuration file to the second wireless node, which the second wireless node copies to a storage of the second wireless node. The second wireless node configures itself to operate as a replacement for the first wireless node in the IoT system, based at least in part on the copied configuration file.

    Abstract: A plurality of tape agents includes an autonomous master wireless tape agent. The autonomous wireless tape agent includes a first wireless communications interface type operative to communicate over a wireless communications link with an associated secondary wireless agent. The autonomous master wireless tape agent corresponds to a child node in a wireless agent hierarchy. The secondary wireless agent includes a second wireless communications interface type that has a longer wireless communications range than a wireless communications range of the first wireless communications interface type. The secondary wireless agent corresponds to a parent node in the wireless agent hierarchy. The master wireless tape agent governs the wireless communications link and traffic between the master wireless tape agent and the secondary wireless agent. The master wireless tape agent is operative to schedule a designated time slot for each secondary wireless agent transmission. The secondary wireless agent is operative to synchronize its transmit and receive timing with that of the master wireless tape agent and respond to requests received from the master wireless tape agent.
