Abstract: A vehicular display system includes a rearward viewing camera disposed at a vehicle and a controller that includes a processor for processing image data captured by the rearward viewing camera. A display device is disposed in the vehicle for viewing by a driver of the vehicle. Image data captured by the rearward viewing camera is processed at the controller, which generates an output representative of an image having three image panes including a central image pane derived from a central subset of captured image data and two side image panes derived from respective side subsets of captured image data. Each of the side image panes are shaped and arranged with respect to the central image pane to have non-parallel upper edges and non-parallel lower edges. The display device, responsive to the output generated by the processing system, displays the image for viewing by the driver of the vehicle.

Abstract: A vehicular camera module includes a metal front housing, a printed circuit board housed by the metal front housing, a lens holder disposed at the metal front housing with the lens aligned with an imager at the printed circuit board, a metal rear housing joined with the metal front housing, and a coaxial connecting element. With the metal rear housing joined with the metal front housing, an inward-extending portion of the coaxial connecting element extends inward of the metal rear housing towards the metal front housing and electrically connects with circuitry at the printed circuit board. With the metal rear housing joined with the metal front housing, a plurality of spring tabs make, via spring contact, an electrical connection between the circuitry at the printed circuit board and the metal rear housing. An outward-extending portion of the coaxial connecting element is configured for coaxial electrical connection to a vehicle connector.

Abstract: A method for displaying video images includes providing a plurality of cameras and an ECU at the vehicle. The cameras are in communication with one another via a vehicle network and the ECU is in communication with the cameras via respective data lines. During a driving maneuver of the vehicle, one of the cameras is designated as and functions as a master camera and other cameras are designated as and function as slave cameras. During the driving maneuver, automatic control of exposure, gain and white balance parameters of the designated master camera is enabled, and the exposure, gain and white balance parameters of the designated master camera are communicated to the designated slave cameras via the vehicle network. A composite image is displayed that provides bird's eye view video images derived from video image data captured by at least the designated master camera and the designated slave cameras.

Abstract: A vehicular vision system includes a camera disposed at a front portion of a vehicle, a display screen and a processor for processing image data captured by the camera. The processor performs first, second and third image manipulations on first, second and third portions of the image data to generate first, second and third region manipulated image data. The display screen displays first, second and third images derived from the manipulated image data at respective display regions. The displayed images are discontinuous at a first seam between first and second display regions and discontinuous at a second seam between first and third display regions. An object present in first and second regions of the view of the camera is displayed as discontinuous at the first seam and an object present in the first and third regions of the view of the camera is displayed as discontinuous at the second seam.

Abstract: A vehicular vision system includes a camera and a repeater element at a vehicle. The repeater element is powered at least in part via power-over-coax and includes a de-serializer, a repeater and at least two serializers. The camera captures image data and outputs a camera output that includes serialized image data. The camera output is received at the repeater element and is de-serialized via the de-serializer to generate a de-serialized output. The de-serialized output is provided to the repeater and at least two repeater outputs are provided to the serializers. The serializers serialize the received repeater outputs to generate respective serialized outputs. The serializers each output the respective serialized output to a respective receiver of the vehicle. Each of the serialized outputs is representative of the serialized image data of the camera output received from the camera.

Abstract: A vehicular display system includes a camera configured to be positioned on a vehicle and a processing system for processing image data captured by the camera. The image data is representative of a scene viewed by the camera. The processing system generates an output representative of an image having three image panes including a central image pane derived from a first subset of captured image data and two side image panes derived from second and third subsets of captured image data. Each of the side image panes are shaped and arranged with respect to the central image pane to have non-parallel upper edges and non-parallel lower edges. A display device, responsive to the output generated by the processing system, displays the image for viewing by a driver of the vehicle.

Abstract: A vehicular vision system includes first and second cameras disposed at a vehicle and having respective overlapping fields of view that include a road surface of a road along which the vehicle is traveling. Image data captured by the cameras is provided to an image processor and is processed to determine relative movement of a road feature present in the captured image data. The determined movement of the road feature relative to the vehicle in first image data captured by the first camera is compared to the determined movement of the road feature relative to the vehicle in second image data captured by the second camera, and at least a rotational offset of the second camera at the vehicle relative to the first camera at the vehicle is determined and the image data are remapped to at least partially accommodate misalignment of the second camera relative to the first camera.

Abstract: A method for dynamically calibrating a vehicular trailer angle detection system includes providing at least a rear camera at a rear portion of the vehicle. A trailer is hitched at the vehicle and the vehicle is driven forward while towing the trailer. The control determines an expected location of a portion of the trailer based on provided vehicle-trailer parameters as the vehicle is driven forward and towing the trailer. An actual location of the portion of the trailer is determined via processing at the control of captured image data as the equipped vehicle is driven forward and towing the trailer. The vehicular trailer angle detection system is calibrated responsive to determination, via processing at the control of captured image data as the equipped vehicle is driven forward and towing the trailer, that the determined actual location of the portion of the trailer is not at the determined expected location.

Abstract: A camera for a vehicular vision system includes a circuit board having a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface. The circuit board has a first coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE). An imager is disposed at the first surface of the circuit board, and a lens assembly is at the imager. A bend-countering element is disposed at one of the first side and the second side of the circuit board. The bend-countering element has a second CTE that is different from the first CTE of the circuit board. The bend-countering element is selected so that, with the camera disposed at the vehicle, the bend-countering element counters temperature-induced bending of the circuit board to maintain focus of the lens assembly at the imager.

Abstract: A method for providing outputs to receivers of a vehicular vision system includes disposing a camera at a vehicle and disposing an LVDS repeater device at the vehicle. The LVDS repeater device includes a de-serializer, a repeater and at least two serializers. The LVDS repeater device is powered at least in part via power-over-coax from a head unit or ECU of the vehicle. The camera captures image data and outputs an LVDS camera output. The LVDS camera output is received at the LVDS repeater device and is de-serialized via the de-serializer. The de-serialized LVDS camera output is provided to the repeater and at least two outputs are provided to the serializers and are serialized. The serializers each output a respective LVDS repeater output to a respective receiver of the vehicle. The receivers include a receiver of respective ones of the vehicle head unit and the ECU.
