Abstract: A vehicular navigation system includes an electronic control unit (ECU) having electronic circuitry and associated software. The ECU is operable to determine routes for a vehicle equipped with the vehicular navigation system based at least in part on map data. The ECU, to route the vehicle from a starting location to an ending location, determines one or more candidate routes from the starting location to the ending location. For each determined candidate route, the ECU determines a respective energy efficiency for travel of the vehicle along the respective determined candidate route based at least in part on environmental temperature data for at least one location along the respective determined candidate route. The ECU selects one of the determined candidate routes for the vehicle to travel along based on the determined respective energy efficiency for travel of the vehicle along each determined candidate route.

Abstract: A vehicular central monitoring system includes a forward-viewing camera, a plurality of non-vision sensors and an electronic control unit. A wireless communication device wirelessly communicates to a central server (i) vehicle data indicative of operation of the vehicle and (ii) environment data indicative of the environment in which the vehicle is traveling. The central server processes the wirelessly received vehicle data and environment data. Responsive to processing at the central server of the vehicle data and environment data received at the central server from the vehicle, the central server determines if the vehicle is at or approaching a hazardous condition. Responsive to the determination that the vehicle is at or approaching the hazardous condition, the vehicular central monitoring system (i) alerts a driver of the vehicle of the determined hazardous condition and/or (ii) controls a vehicle system of the vehicle to mitigate the determined hazardous condition.

Abstract: A vehicular multi-sensor system includes a plurality of sensors that include at least a forward-viewing camera and a forward-sensing 3D point-cloud LIDAR sensor. The forward-viewing camera views (i) a traffic lane of a multi-lane road being traveled along by the equipped vehicle and (ii) another traffic lane of the multi-lane road, and the field of sensing of the forward-sensing 3D point-cloud LIDAR sensor at least encompasses the other traffic lane of the multi-lane road. Image data captured by the forward-viewing camera is transferred to and is processed at an electronic control unit (ECU). 3D point-cloud LIDAR data captured by the forward-sensing 3D point-cloud LIDAR sensor is transferred to and processed at the ECU. Responsive at least in part to processing at the ECU of 3D point-cloud LIDAR data captured by the forward-sensing 3D point-cloud LIDAR sensor, a traffic participant present forward of the equipped vehicle is detected.

Abstract: A vehicular radar sensing system includes a radar sensor disposed at a vehicle. The radar sensor transmits and receives radio signals. The vehicular radar sensing system, via processing of radar data captured by the radar sensor, detects a plurality of objects present within a field of sensing of the radar sensor. The system determines a plurality of phase delays in the radar data. Phase delays of the plurality of phase delays are associated with respective received radio signals reflected off respective detected objects of the plurality of detected objects. The vehicular radar sensing system determines a common phase delay of the plurality of phase delays that is common among the received radio signals reflected off detected objects. The system, responsive to determining that an amount of performance degradation of the radar sensor based on the blockage is greater than a threshold amount, adjusts a driving assistance system of the vehicle.

Abstract: A vehicular personalized adaptive cruise control system includes a forward-viewing camera viewing forward through a windshield of a vehicle, and an electronic control unit disposed at the vehicle. When the vehicle is operating in an adaptive cruise control mode, the system controls driving of the vehicle. When the equipped vehicle is not operating in the adaptive cruise control mode, a driver present in the vehicle drives the vehicle. The system identifies the driver via processing of image data captured by a cabin monitoring camera. When the identified driver drives the vehicle with the vehicle not operating in the adaptive cruise control mode, the system determines and stores personalized parameters for the identified driver. With the identified driver present in the vehicle, and when the vehicle is operating in the adaptive cruise control mode, the system uses the determined personalized parameters.

Abstract: A vehicular control system includes a camera, a radar sensor and a processor operable to process image data captured by the camera and radar data captured by the radar sensor. The system determines that it is not safe to proceed with an intended turn at an intersection responsive to determination that the intended turn at the intersection will not be completed before an estimated time to arrival of an approaching vehicle at the intersection elapses and/or determination that a pedestrian is present at the intersection where the equipped vehicle will turn. The system determines that it is safe to proceed with the intended turn at the intersection responsive at least in part to determination that the intended turn at the intersection will be completed before the estimated time to arrival elapses and determination that no pedestrian is present at the intersection where the equipped vehicle will turn.

Abstract: A vehicular driver assist system includes a forward-viewing camera disposed at and viewing through a windshield of a vehicle. The vehicular driver assist system sets an initial vehicle soft lock speed when speed of the vehicle reaches an initial threshold speed of travel. With the initial vehicle soft lock speed set and with the vehicle speed exceeding the initial vehicle soft lock speed, the system maintains the vehicle speed at the initial vehicle soft lock speed when the vehicle speed reduces to the initial vehicle soft lock speed by coasting. When speed of the vehicle increases by a multiple of a vehicle speed increment above the initial vehicle soft lock speed, the system sets an increased vehicle soft lock speed and maintains the vehicle speed at the increased vehicle soft lock speed when the vehicle speed reduces to the increased vehicle soft lock speed by coasting.

Abstract: A vehicular control system includes a sensor disposed at a vehicle and capturing sensor data. The system, as the vehicle is approaching an intersection and responsive to processing by a processor of sensor data captured by the sensor, detects a cross-traffic threat approaching the intersection and maintains a buffer to store a trajectory of the cross-traffic threat. The system, using the trajectory, determines an intersection point between the vehicle and the cross-traffic threat, determines an arrival time at the intersection point for both the vehicle and the cross-traffic threat, and determines a difference between the arrival time of the vehicle at the intersection and the cross-traffic threat. The system, responsive to determining that the difference between the arrival time of the equipped vehicle at the intersection and the arrival time of the cross-traffic threat is less than a threshold amount, controls a safety system of the vehicle.

Abstract: A vehicular power system includes a battery disposed at a vehicle, an electrical motor disposed at the vehicle that controls propulsion of the equipped vehicle when powered, a power system controller, and a transformer electrically connected to the battery. The transformer includes a plurality of taps, each tap of the plurality of taps providing a different output voltage. The power system controller, responsive to a vehicle speed request, determines one of the plurality of taps. The power system controller electrically connects the determined one of the plurality of taps to the electrical motor, and electrical power flows from the battery through the determined one of the plurality of taps to the electrical motor. The electrical motor, based on the electrical power from the determined one of the plurality of taps, adjusts speed of propulsion of the equipped vehicle toward the requested vehicle speed.

Abstract: A vehicular navigation system includes a sensor disposed at a vehicle. The sensor is operable to capture sensor data. Electronic circuitry of an electronic control unit (ECU) includes a data processor operable to process sensor data captured by the sensor to determine an attribute of the vehicle associated with a quality of a road along which the vehicle is traveling. The ECU determines a road quality index of the road along which the vehicle is traveling based at least in part on the determined attribute of the vehicle. The ECU determines a navigation route from a starting location to a destination location based at least in part on the road quality index of roads connecting the starting location and the destination location.
