    Abstract: A vacuum insulated refrigerator structure with a vacuum core material filled in around an elongated umbilical. The vacuum insulated refrigerator structure is made of a shell having a liner and a wrapper wherein the shell forms an internal cavity. A gas permeable casing surrounds the entire length of the elongated umbilical passing through the internal cavity of the shell. A vacuum tube is inserted at a first opening between the gas permeable casing and the elongated umbilical and a second end of the elongated umbilical is coupled to the shell at a second opening in the liner. A vacuum is formed in the internal cavity of the shell through the vacuum tube while adding the vacuum core material fill. In the shell, an elongated umbilical has one or more elongated internal passageways wherein the one or more utility lines may be routed through the one or more elongated internal passageways.

    Abstract: A vacuum insulated structure includes a first panel and a second panel, wherein the second panel is operably coupled to the first panel to define an insulating space therebetween. An airway system is disposed within the insulating space and includes portions of porous tubing configured to draw air along lengths of the porous tubing from the insulating space during an evacuation procedure. A plurality of connectors interconnect the portions of porous tubing of the airway system to inner walls of the insulating space. The connectors may include support members that extend between the panels within the insulating space to support the vacuum insulated structure under vacuum pressure. Further, first and second panels can include rigidifying structural configurations to combat vacuum bowing during the evacuation procedure.

    Abstract: A refrigerator includes a vacuum insulated cabinet and a surround lighting feature. The vacuum insulated cabinet includes a liner disposed within a wrapper, which are interconnected by a thermal bridge to form a vacuum cavity therebetween. A wall covering assembly includes a top wall disposed adjacent to and spaced-apart from a top wall of the liner. The wall covering assembly also includes a rear wall disposed adjacent to and spaced-apart from a rear wall of the liner. In assembly, the liner and the wall covering assembly cooperate to define a refrigerator compartment. A cavity is formed between liner and the wall covering assembly. A surround lighting assembly is disposed around an opening into the refrigerator compartment and is powered by a wiring system concealed by the wall covering assembly.
