Abstract:
The invention relates to a process for the purification of Epsilon -caprolactam prepared by catalytic cyclohexanone oxime rearrangement in the gaseous phase which comprises mixing the crude lactam at a temperature above its melting point with at least one branched aliphatic hydrocarbon, the mixing proportions ensuring the formation of a liquid lactam phase in addition to the hydrocarbon phase, separating off the hydrocarbon phase, recrystallising the dissolved lactam from the hydrocarbon phase by cooling, and subjecting the lactam crystals thus obtained to fractional vacuum distillation.
Abstract:
A method for recovering a cation component of a neutralized-salt type ionic liquid, characterized by comprising a first step, in which an aqueous solution of the neutralized-salt type ionic liquid is mixed with a water-incompatible organic solvent to prepare a liquid separating into two phases, i.e., an aqueous phase and an organic phase, a second step, in which the liquid separating into two phases is mixed with a water-soluble strong alkali so that the amount of the strong alkali is 20% by mass or larger with respect to the water contained in the aqueous phase, thereby regenerating the cations of the neutralized-salt type ionic liquid present in the aqueous phase, into a neutral substance and moving the neutral substance from the aqueous phase to the organic phase, and a third step, in which the organic phase containing the neutral substance is recovered by a liquid-separating operation.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a process for purifying caprolactam from solutions of crude caprolactam by a direct treatment with one or more alkaline compounds of polyvalent metals, preferably bivalent and trivalent, without resorting to organic solvent extraction as used in the usual purification process. A further subject of the present invention is a facility devoid of a unit for organic solvent extraction and designed to carry out the caprolactam purification process described herein.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for preparing caprolactam comprising recovering a mixture containing 6-aminocaproic acid, from a culture medium comprising biomass, and thereafter cyclising the 6-aminocaproic acid in the presence of superheated steam, thereby forming caprolactam, wherein the weight to weight ratio carbohydrate to 6-aminocaproic acid in said mixture is 0.03 or less.
