Abstract:
Stablized aqueous solutions of aliphatic unsaturated sulfonic acids which contain aliphatic chlorine compounds, and nickelplating baths containing said stabilized aqueous solutions as brighteners.
Abstract:
A polystyrene seed latex composition is provided having a total emulsion polymer content of from 0.2 to 2.0 weight percent and a particle diameter less than 150 null. The seed latex is produced on a continuous basis by feeding to a continuous stirred reactor an emulsion stream and initiator stream. The feed streams are mixed in the stirred reactor at room temperature to produce the seed latex. Preferably, the initiator stream comprises a sodium formaldehyde sulfoxylate reducing agent. The amount of initiator charged into the continuous seed reactor is sufficient to complete both the seed and a subsequent continuous latex polymerization reaction.
Abstract:
A process for the preparation of 1,2-dichloroethane by oxychlorination of ethene in the presence of a copper-containing fixed-bed catalyst comprising a bed essentially consisting of catalyst particles which comprise, at least partially, support material impregnated with an active component and, if desired, a promoter, where the catalyst bed comprises essentially no separate inert material for dilution.
Abstract:
A catalyst comprising at least one nickel(O) complex which comprises at least one mono-, bi- or multidentate phosphonite ligand of the formula Ior salts and mixtures thereof, is prepared as described, and the catalysts are used to prepare mixtures of monoolefinic C5 mononitriles with nonconjugated C=C and C=N bonds by catalytic hydrocyanation of butadiene or of a 1,3-butadiene-containing hydrocarbon mixture in the presence of a catalyst of this type.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a process for preparing propene by metathesis of olefins. The process comprises preparing propene bya) in a first reactor (R1), reacting 1-butene and 2-butene to give propene and 2-pentene in the presence of a metathesis catalyst comprising at least one compound of a metal of transition group VIb, VIIb, or VIII of the Periodic Table of elements,b) subsequently separating the propene, unreacted raffinate II, and 2-pentene formed in a) in a distillation column (D1),c) subsequently reacting the 2-pentene of b) with ethene to give propene and 1-butene in a reactor (R2) in the presence of a metathesis catalyst comprising at least one compound of a metal of transition group VIb, VIIb, or VIII of the Periodic Table of Elements,d) subsequently separating the propene and 1-butene formed in c),e) subsequently returning the 1-butene formed in d) to step a) andf) wherein unreacted raffinate II is taken off at the middle off take of column D1 in b) and partly returned to step a).
Abstract:
Valuable fungicide having a strong action and containing a composition of diisopropyl 3-nitroisophthalate and N-tridecyl2,6-dimethylmorpholine.
Abstract:
A process for working up particulate polyolefins obtained by polymerization carried out with the aid of Ziegler/Natta catalysts. The process of the invention is characterized by a continuous, conventional operation (1) comprising the following integrated sub-stages: (1.1) introducing particulate polyolefin to a melting zone, (1.2) passing the molten polyolefin to a degassing zone, (1.3) transferring the degassed polyolefin to a discharge zone, and (1.4) finally extruding and granulating the resulting polyolefin; and by an important, additional and new feature (2) comprising the addition of an alkenoxide, water and optionally nitrogen to the polyolefin immediately before it passes to the melting zone or while it is in the melting zone. This process makes it possible to produce granular polyolefins of low halogen content in a particularly simple manner.
Abstract:
A process for the production in powdered form of a polymer containing carboxylic acid or carboxylic anhydride groups in which the monomers are polymerized with agitation in the presence of an auxiliary liquid in such a way that the surface of the mixture is increased by a multiple with respect to the stagnant mixture and then the auxiliary liquid is distilled off. The powdered polymer is particularly suitable as a surface sizing agent for paper.
Abstract:
Suitable compounds for stabilizing polyamides against oxidation and thermal degradation are acid amides, acid esters, bis-ureas and bis(acid amides) based on 2,6-di-t-butylphenol-butylamine and 2,6-di-t-butylphenol-butanol of the general formulae:
IN WHICH R1 is hydrogen, chloro, bromo or nitro; R2 and R3 are water-insoluble and are hydrogen or chloro; R4 is hydrogen, chloro or methyl; and X is cyano or carbamoyl. The pigments are eminently suitable for coloring resins, surface coatings or printing inks.
